A much anticipated highlight of the summer, the Festival has remained faithful to its mission of bringing top-quality, free, family-friendly entertainment to the residents and guests of Addison County since its debut at the end of the nineteen-seventies. Over the years, we have introduced more than 445 performance artists and groups to collectively more than 125,000 audience members. The roster of
“alumni” performers includes homegrown talent from the Green Mountain State and entertainers from half-a-world away, solo artists and entire parades, traditional entertainers and those who’ve earned a reputation as “cutting-edge.”
The Festival on the Green has been acclaimed by Vermont Life as “the best series of free performances in Vermont” and as Vermont's “Favorite Festival.” We have also been distinguished this year and 10 times with selection as a Vermont Chamber of Commerce “Top Ten Summer Event.”

If you have been to the Festival on-the-Green, you know that it is a unique, fun and family-friendly all presented on the Middlebury Green, and all are free! In 2022 we will celebrate our 43 years with a full festival! This year, more than ever, we need your financial contributions to make it happen. It will costs about $55,000 for the week-long program, two-thirds of which covers performer fees. The balance is allocated toward sound, lighting, insurance, tent maintenance, and other expenses. We believe Festival on-the-Green is a wonderful event that not only enriches and entertains us but also strengthens the bonds of our community. Please give as generously as you are able. “Pass the Bucket” collections during Festival week, while helpful, only bring in about 10% of what we need! Rest assured that 100% of your contribution underwrites production and programming as all of us working on the Festival are volunteers.
