There is a reflex running underneath most of our relationships, and it is faster than we realize. Before we even form a conscious thought, part of our brain is already asking where we rank. Above someone. Below someone. Safe or threatened.
Left unattended, this reflex feeds enemy mode. It is what turns a disagreement into a fight for who is right, or a quiet meeting into a silent contest over who gets heard.
