Every two years we gather as a region for
fellowship, worship, regional board elections,
and discussion of any other pressing issues for the Greater Kansas City Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

2026 is extra special with leadership from our
new Regional Minister, Rev. Lara Blackwood
Pickrel and an Installation Service for our
Regional Youth Cabinet.

As we reflect on the Being the Body of Christ,
we’re reminded that it takes all of us lay
members, lay leaders, ministers, and regional
ministry leadership to do the work of Christ
in our congregations and in our communities.

Our Regional Assembly builds on this by
offering a laity and family focus on Friday
evening with a Regional focus on Saturday.

Rev. Sheryl Tucker and Rev. Bill Rose-Heim led 12 KC Disciples in Anti-Racism Pro-Reconciliation training on Thursday, August 23. With presentations from Rev. Mindy Fugarino (Intersect KC and IBCC) and Ms. Janey Reliford - KC Reparations Coalition - accompanied by Mr. Trahern Crews from Restorative Actions in Minnesota).

The next ARPR training will be an introduction to Transformative Community Conferencing and the Becoming and Antiracist Congregation program that was developed with significant help from Rev. Dr. Chris Wilson.

Rev. Dr. Dionne Boyice and Rev. Bill Rose-Heim are planning to facilitate this workshop for October 24, 2026.

The photo of the “towers” was an exercise in group collaboration which is essential to make significant impacts on the systemic racism which continues to harm too many people here and abroad.
