~INTRODUCTION TO SLOVENIA~
Slovenia is a small country with 2,000,000 people that only became independent in 1991. One of Slovenia's biggest assets is its unique location in between the Mediterranean, Venice and Vienna. This strategic geographic position serves many investors an excellent entrance point for Eastern and Central European markets. Being part of the EU helped many international companies use the Slovenian micro-market as a successful test market and the country served as a good ambassador for developing and recognizing Slovenia as a genuine and adventurous tourist destination. Slovenia's other biggest asset is its people. Many successful people have come from Slovenia such as Dušan Petrac (NASA), Sara Isakovic (Olympic Medal Winner), Anže Kopitar (Stanley Cup Winner), Joe Sutter (Boeing 747), Zvonko Fazarinc and Franc Rode (inventors of HP calculator), Željko Ivanek (EMI Award-winning actor), Sunita Williams (Astronaut), and Amy Klobuchar (U.S. Slovenian people are known as good engineers, hard workers, smart entrepreneurs and eager learners. We want to broaden horizons for highly talented, prospective students, by ensuring them a quality education, helping them learn how to be successful on a bigger scale and build a community of educators and leaders of excellence, character and service. The Foundation will also ensure continued exchange between the US and Slovenia to enable research, innovation and entrepreneurship in both countries.
