It has been an electric few days in the studio! All of the pieces are playing off each other beautifully and the dancers are well rehearsed, prepared, and confident.

We now move to Playhouse on the Square for final touches, lighting, costumes, and makeup. Now we just need you! Join us THIS WEEKEND ONLY for Memphis Sounds to kickoff our 40th Anniversary Season. Picture it, our beautiful award-winning building on Overton Square with tables down the center hallway. You sip a cocktail and sit with your friends. Places are set, and dinner is served just before or after you experience Memphis Sounds!

This collaboration between Ballet Memphis and The Etowah Collective brings you dance and fine dining. Guests choose between the Saturday 2pm matinee and the 7:30pm evening performance while both groups meet in the middle for a meal. Your ticket includes an arrival cocktail, four-course dinner, curated w**e pairings, and main floor seating at Memphis Sounds.

Steven McMahon’s UNAPOLOGETIC., first created in 2018 in collaboration with UNAPOLOGETIC. returns in Memphis Sounds! For this new iteration, McMahon made some changes to the choreography and welcomes of Uni’Q and Eillo alongside returning artists Aaron James and cmaJor for a live performance during the show!

This collaboration celebrates Memphis-made music and dance, and will have you on your feet!

What a great weekend of performances for YBM’s Jubilee! Each year you can see the progress our students make, and it’s hard not to be impressed when their dedication translates so nicely into beautiful dance.

These students’ efforts represent years of work in the studio at Ballet Memphis School. It’s such a privilege to watch the creative process in action!

Yusha-Marie Sorzano, guest choreographer, is in the studio making a new piece for our dancers to the music of Stax recording sensation Otis Redding!

One thing about dance is that it doesn’t come ready, nor is it ever completely finished. It changes with each performer and performance, so come experience it live with us!

Memphis Sounds opens in TWO WEEKS on October 16 with 4 shows - Friday evening 7:30pm, Saturday 2pm and 7:30pm, and a closing Sunday 2pm matinee.

Don’t forget you can make it dinner and a show with our The Etowah Collective collaboration. Guests choose from the matinee and evening performance on October 17 and have dinner in the Ballet Memphis building between performances.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Pinkies up! Ballet Memphis’ beloved Nutcracker Tea will be held at the historic Peabody Hotel on December 6 for tea, treats, sweets, dancing, and holiday wonder - all in support of the Children’s Enchantment Fund of Ballet Memphis. Kids and adults alike step into a world of magic where imagination comes to life, tiny teacups are clinked, and little ones can twirl to their heart’s content.
