MVP3 Foundation is excited to share a behind-the-scenes look at the Walter Bailey Jr. documentary with his nephew, Justin Bailey, a respected Memphis attorney and current General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer for Memphis-Shelby County Schools. As the son of civil rights leader Judge D’Army Bailey, Justin brings a meaningful family perspective to the story and legacy of Walter Bailey Jr. This project also reflects MVP3 Foundation’s commitment to giving students hands-on opportunities to work on important projects that preserve history, elevate community voices, and create lasting impact.

🎬 We’re continuing production this summer, and our students are getting real hands-on experience on a real documentary film.
Today, students had the opportunity to witness and be part of an interview with former Mayor Jim Strickland, an attorney and Dean of the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. ⚖️🎥
This documentary tells the life story of Walter Bailey Jr. — a civil rights icon, legendary attorney, and one of the longest-serving commissioners to ever hold office. ✊🏽
Walter Bailey Jr. and his brother also made history as the only two brothers in our nation’s history to have courthouses named after them. 🏛️ This makes this project incredibly important — not only as a real documentary, but as a powerful story of justice, leadership, legacy, and community impact.
🌟 This is not your typical summer camp — it is an extraordinary experience.
These students are not only gaining hands-on production skills, but also building knowledge, credibility, and career pathways. They are working alongside an award-winning production team, while gaining meaningful experience and making lasting connections — not only within the film industry, but throughout the community. 🤝🎞️

Our students are coming together for an exciting summer camp project as we wrap up the Walter Bailey Jr. documentary, along with certifications and awards celebrating their hard work. We are honored to help preserve the legacy of one of the most respected and longest-serving Shelby County Commissioners, whose monumental contributions have impacted Memphis, the state, and the country.
