Memphis is the ONLY city in this country pretending like data centers are not harmful.
There is no research outside of what elected officials in this city are using that says it is not harmful. EVERY respectable study says they cause harm.
We’ve reached a point as 30-40 something’s where the people we grew up with are making decisions and some of us are about to discover we didn’t gain the same values in those same spaces.
You guys look at activists like they are disruptive…but, thats the point. When I was younger, Pastors Dwight Montgomery, Leonard Dawson & Ralph White would have been on the city council’s HEAD. They would have been marching with t-shirts, slacks and dress shoes lol the people organizing for more regulations are doing GOD’S WORK.
Like - let’s all reason together about how insane it is that we are even discussing this.
People are asking for a PAUSE.
The people just literally want you to pump the brakes for a minute so that you can look at the GPS again, because there are some issues on the road ahead that can change your plans and now, there are alternate routes available that allow you to avoid future disruptions.
Siri is yelling “REROUTE” and the noise around you is too loud to hear her help you avoid major issues.

The City Council needs to stop & MEASURE the risk.
People are asking for GUARDRAILS.
I don’t know a single universe where a leader in this city would be against pauses for guardrails to ensure that they are protecting the people who voted them in and whose tax dollars deposit in their bank accounts.
Are we in an alternate universe?
I mean it’s starting to look like it…
Because there is no trusted study done by the leading scholars on particulate matter pollution, turbine use harm, water endangerment & noise pollution (outside of what people in Memphis are saying) that says that these centers are safe & do not need regulations.
Ask your council members for a WORKS CITED page for the “research” they have. Ask them what major organizations have the researchers presented the research to…or what journals they published it in…

I know there are no longstanding studies or high level researchers that would disagree with a pause to establish better regulatory practices…
