Did you know we share more than just the word MISSION with another well-known & respected nonprofit here in Central PA?

We share a ROOF.

Bethesda Mission Food Bank is our longest-standing in-house partner (23 years!)

One of 3 humanitarian non profits that Mission Central provides logistic support and warehouse space for so they can carry out their work and serve the community.

What began as an effort to help supply Bethesda Mission's shelters has grown into a regional food distribution network serving more than 200 churches, food pantries, and nonprofit organizations throughout Central Pennsylvania.

Each month, hundreds of thousands of pounds of food and household essentials move through their operation, helping partner organizations meet the needs of families and individuals facing food insecurity.

While Bethesda Mission Food Bank does not distribute food directly to the public from our warehouse, they work behind the scenes to ensure local food pantries and community organizations have the resources they need to serve their neighbors.

Together, we're proud to support the work of connecting resources with those who need them most.

We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn and succeed.

That's why we collect, assemble, and distribute Mission Central Activity Kits.

What's inside?
Pencils, a ruler, scissors, crayons, paper...
Supplies many of us take for granted, but can make a meaningful difference for a child who may not otherwise have them.

Mission Central Activity Kits are distributed through schools, nonprofit partners, community organizations, and disaster response efforts both locally and around the world.

Many of these kits help support students attending local Title I schools, children facing financial hardship, and families recovering from disasters.

By providing basic educational supplies, these kits help ensure children can continue learning, creating, and participating in school regardless of their circumstances.

Ever wonder where to bring donations at Mission Central?
You're not alone!

With 48,000 square feet of warehouse space, finding the right door can feel a little intimidating on your first visit.

The good news - we've made it easy! Just look for the Orange Donation Door on the side of our warehouse near the loading dock. You can ring the bell, and a member of our team (usually a dedicated volunteer) will greet you, help you unload your vehicle, and can even provide a receipt for your generous donation.

We accept a wide variety of items including:
• Medical Equipment
• School Supplies
• Hygiene Items
• Clothing and Shoes
• Cleaning Supplies
• Nutritional Supplements
+ and so much more!

Our In-House partners (Computer Ministry, Bethesda Mission Food Bank, & New Digs Ministry, Inc.) all accept a cross-section of items on select days and times.

Those include:
• Computers & Electronics, Household Goods, and even Non-Perishable Food

Check the link in our comments below ⬇⬇⬇ to learn more about the Orange Donation Door and how donating your goods can help close the gap and help to complete the mission of connecting resources to those most in need.

Don't forget that if your donation fills more than an SUV or includes a large quantity of items, we need you to give us a call at 717-766-1533 before you arrive so we can be ready to help!

Why do people volunteer at Mission Central?

We asked.
The answers were as varied as the people who shared them.

Some volunteer because they believe in helping their neighbors.

Some because they enjoy meeting people and building community.

Some because they want to make a difference.

Some simply because they believe in our mission.

Every volunteer brings their own story, talents, and reasons for serving.

Together, they help make Mission Central's work possible every single day.
Thank you to the thousands of volunteers who continue to connect God's resources with human need through their time, energy, and compassion.

Which answer resonates most with you?

As communities across the country prepare to celebrate America’s 250th, this photo from last summer feels especially meaningful.

Mission Central’s impact is not always measured in container ships, truckloads of supplies, or disaster response shipments. Sometimes it looks like helping a family make a once-in-a-lifetime visit possible.

Last year, a local family reached out after posting in a Mechanicsburg Facebook group asking where they might find a used wheelchair for their 93-year-old father, who was coming to visit from overseas.
Community members pointed them to Mission Central.

Because of the generosity of donors and the work of our Medical Equipment Program, we were able to help.

The family later shared this incredible photo with us from their visit to the Statue of Liberty.

A wheelchair may seem like a simple piece of equipment. But for this family, it helped create a memory they will carry for a lifetime.
This is what your support makes possible.

Last week, June 1st marked the beginning of Atlantic hurricane season. And while hurricane season may feel far away from Central Pennsylvania, Mission Central's disaster response efforts often begin months before a storm ever makes landfall.

Throughout the year, donated supplies, assembled kits, and disaster response materials are prepared so they can be quickly deployed when communities face hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, and other emergencies.

The work of disaster response doesn't begin after the headlines appear. It begins long before through planning, preparation, and the generosity of churches, partners, donors, and supporters.

It's not a matter of IF - but WHEN, and we know preparation matters at Mission Central. So as hurricane season begins, we're incredibly grateful for everyone who helps ensure critical resources are ready when they're needed most.

A huge thank you to the Susquehanna Conference, The United Methodist Church for once again supporting Mission Central through a special donation drive during their Annual Conference next week on June 4th.

Churches and attendees from across the Conference are helping collect critical supplies used in our Activity Kits and Care Kits, including:
• Gallon Ziploc Bags
• Scissors
• Hand Towels
• Erasers
• Soap
• Nail Clippers
• Notebooks
• Rulers

These simple everyday items become part of something much bigger.

Our Activity Kits support school-aged children both locally & around the world, while the Care Kits provide essential hygiene and comfort items to individuals and families experiencing crisis, disaster, homelessness, poverty, and emergency situations.

In 2025 alone, Mission Central distributed more than 30,000 kits through our humanitarian aid efforts.

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of the Susquehanna Conference, its churches, and conference attendees. Donations like these directly help us continue connecting God’s resources with human need every single day 🫶
