Obat Helpers USA In 2004, OBAT started serving an unfortunate and forgotten group of people, commonly known as Bihari or Urdu Speaking (formerly known as stranded Pakistanis).

OBAT Helpers is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit empowering marginalized and displaced communities in Bangladesh through education, healthcare, WASH, livelihoods, youth development, and emergency relief. OBAT Helpers is a US based 501(C) (3), non-profit organization committed to providing aid, support, education, and economic empowerment to displaced, stranded and refugee populations residing in c

amps in Bangladesh. Over 300,000 of them are living in 116 makeshift camps in 13 different cities throughout Bangladesh since 1971. More than three generations of this community continue to live in 8 ft. x 10 ft. spaces in abject poverty, with no access to basic amenities. They face a severe lack of education, healthcare and income earning opportunities. OBAT Helpers has been instrumental in providing opportunities for growth and transformation to this community through the areas of education, health, infrastructure development, empowerment and relief. Since September 2017, OBAT has also been in the forefront of serving Rohingya refugees after the crises erupted in August 2017. The Rohingya escaped from persecution and genocide in Myanmar to seek protection in Bangladesh. With the crisis unfolding at the doorstep of OBAT’s projects, the organization made a strategic decision to provide humanitarian assistance in the immediate aftermath and apply solutions and lessons learned from the Urdu-speaking camps to help the recently displaced individuals. OBAT’s current relief strategy in the Rohingya camps addresses the medical, educational, nutritional and emergency needs of the refugees. As an official nonprofit partner of DMMA, OBAT Helpers is deeply grateful for their support, generosity, and shared commitment to expanding access to healthcare through the OBAT Health Clinic in Rangpur, Bangladesh.

A special training workshop was organized for the Mathematics teachers of OBAT Khulna Primary School under the initiative of Mr. Sohail Akhter Khan, Project Manager, OBAT Helpers Bangladesh, and Shamim Nighat, Teacher Trainer, OBAT Junior High School, Chattogram.

The workshop focused on strengthening teaching strategies that help students develop confidence, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of Mathematics.

Empowering Young Leaders for Greater Community Impact

From May 31 to June 3, OBAT Think Tank brought together dedicated volunteers and young leaders from across Bangladesh for an intensive Volunteer Workshop in Rangpur.

Over four days, participants engaged in hands-on training, interactive discussions, teamwork exercises, leadership development, first aid training, career planning, and personal growth sessions. Each activity was designed to strengthen the skills and confidence needed to create meaningful change in local communities.

The workshop also fostered collaboration among volunteers from multiple districts, encouraging the exchange of ideas, experiences, and best practices. Beyond learning new skills, participants built lasting connections and strengthened their commitment to service and leadership.

Together, we are building a stronger, more skilled, and more impactful network of volunteers ready to serve their communities and inspire positive change.

World Environment Day 2026

On the occasion of World Environment Day, OBAT Think Tank volunteers and OBAT Helpers across Bangladesh came together to take meaningful action for a greener future.

Through tree plantation activities in communities and awareness campaigns featuring environmental protection messages in public spaces, our volunteers encouraged greater responsibility toward preserving our natural environment. At the same time, cleanliness and sanitation initiatives were carried out in workplaces and community spaces, reinforcing the belief that environmental stewardship begins with our everyday surroundings.

Protecting the environment is not limited to large-scale projects. Small, conscious actions, planting a tree, keeping our surroundings clean, reducing waste, and spreading awareness, can collectively create a lasting impact.
