Leadership is not a trait reserved for a select few. It is a skill that can be acquired through intentional growth and consistent practice.

The GLS 2026 Leadership Summit is built on this truth. Great leaders are continually learning, growing, and refining their ability to influence others.

Sometimes, changing a child’s life doesn’t require a room full of experts. It only takes one person who chooses to see them truly.

We often underestimate the power of a single conversation. A few words of encouragement. One adult who listens without judgment and speaks with purpose.

For a young person carrying the weight of trauma, disappointment, or self-doubt, that one interaction can become the turning point. Not because it solves every problem, but because it plants a seed.

Be the person who speaks life into someone else’s future. You may never fully know the difference you made.

But they’ll carry it with them long after the conversation ends.

Seeing our youth laughing, competing, and building friendships was a powerful reminder that moments of play help create confidence, connection, and lasting memories.

A special thank you to Mike Skiba for joining us at The TUG Event and sharing such a powerful message with our youth.

At The TUG, our goal is to equip young people with the tools and confidence to make positive choices when faced with challenges like peer pressure, drugs, violence, and other influences that can lead them down the wrong path. Mike’s story brought those lessons to life in a real and meaningful way.

By sharing the consequences of his choices, Mike gave our students an honest look at how quickly a single decision can change the course of a life.

More importantly, he encouraged them to think ahead, stand firm in their values, and understand that they have the power to choose a different path before they ever find themselves in difficult situations.

His message was geared towards helping the next generation avoid the same pitfalls and recognize that their decisions today can shape the opportunities they’ll have tomorrow.

Thank you, Mike, for investing in our youth and for reminding them that courage isn’t following the crowd, it’s making the right choice, even when it’s the hardest one.
