Hey Kids! Are you looking for a fun way to practice your reading skills? Join us for the Toledo Humane Society’s Shelter Pals & Paws Reading Club.

This program includes reading to our adoptable animals and a visit with a furry friend. This is a drop-off event designed for ages 7-11. Children may bring their own books or choose one of our books.

Select Saturdays from 11:00am-12:00pm
- December 12th
- January 9th
- February 13th
- March 13th
- April 17th

Pre-registration is required. Space is limited to 6 children per session.

Ready to get your pup's training off to a great start?

Registration is open for our Bark to Basics and Puppy Prep School training classes at the Toledo Humane Society!

Both classes run for 5 weeks and are designed to help you and your dog build a strong foundation, learn the basics, and strengthen your bond.

Which class is right for your dog?

Puppy Prep School: For puppies ages 8 weeks to 6 months. Get your little one started on the right paw.

Bark to Basics: For dogs 6 months and older. Help your dog learn the basics and build good habits.

Classes begin November 14 and spots are limited, so don't wait!

Adoption Spotlight: Charlie 🐾

Meet Charlie! This sweet, affectionate guy may be a little reserved at first, but he has plenty of love to give to the right person!

Charlie is happy to greet you and say hello, but he doesn't always compete for attention. Sometimes, he'd rather do his own thing and find a cozy spot to relax. He enjoys attention from his people while also appreciating his independence and quiet time.

Charlie's Ideal home should have a consistent routine. Charlie does best when he knows what to expect. A predictable daily schedule will help him feel safe and secure in his environment.

Other cats: Charlie previously lived with another cat. Although he was initially uncomfortable, he adjusted quickly and eventually became friends with his feline housemate. He may do well with another cat with slow, gradual introductions.

Kids and Dogs: We don't have a history of Charlie living with either, but he has been friendly and affectionate towards staff and may be able to share his home with a canine friend with patient, gradual introductions.

A little patience goes a long way for Charlie. He has had accidents outside of the litter box when his routine and environment changed drastically. Setting him up in a quiet, safe room with all his essentials before gradually introducing him to the rest of the house will help him adjust successfully.

Charlie is looking for someone willing to give him the time, patience, and love he needs to feel at home. Give this handsome guy a chance to settle in at his own pace, and you may just discover your new best friend!

Foster Friday: Meet Aperol!

Aperol may have started her journey in a box, but these days, she’s much more interested in sunny windows, soft spots, and causing a little chaos!

Aperol and her friend Spritz were found in a box by our cruelty team. Now, Aperol is enjoying some time in foster care while she waits for her forever family!

Her foster family describes her as a playful, sweet, and very vocal kitty who wants to be involved in whatever is going on. She loves springs, her purple finger trap toy, boxes, string, and pretty much anything attached to a stick. She also has an impressive case of the zoomies and loves running around, playing, and being her silly self.

But once playtime is over, Aperol is more than happy to settle in next to you for some quality relaxation. She would do well in an active home where she can stay busy, play, explore, and be part of the action.

Her only real offense? The occasional couch scratching. We think a good scratching post might be able to negotiate a peace treaty.

Double the love with Maple and Milo! 💜

Maple and Milo are a bonded pair looking for a calm, comfortable home where they can settle in together! These sweet kitties may need a little time to feel comfortable in new surroundings, but once they feel safe, they're ready to show off their sweet personalities.

Having each other by their side is a special part of their story, and they're hoping to find a family who will welcome them both!

Maple and Milo would do best in a peaceful home with adults or older, cat savvy teenagers. Busy environments and young children may be overwhelming, so a family willing to give them time, patience, and space to adjust would be ideal.

They may also be able to share their home with other cats or a dog with slow, gradual introductions.

These two deserve a place where they can feel safe, loved, and right at home together. Could you be the family they've been waiting for?

Double the bunnies, double the love! Dilly and Dally are two bonded female rabbits looking for a forever home where they can stay together!

These sweet girls came to the Toledo Humane Society from our friends at Portage Animal Protective League after being rescued from a hoarding situation involving more than 75 rabbits in one home. Now, they’re ready for a fresh start and a family to call their own!

Dilly and Dally are just two of the MANY bunnies at THS looking for loving homes! If you’ve been thinking about adding a rabbit to your family, we have lots of adorable bunnies waiting to meet you.

It’s Wishlist Wednesday!

Our animals have a few favorite things, and this week, we could use your help stocking up! From tasty treats to fun toys, these supplies help keep our dogs and cats happy, comfortable, and entertained while they wait for their forever homes.

This week we need:
- Soft dog treats
- Cat treats of any kind
- Dog enrichment fillers like peanut butter, broth, and pumpkin puree
- Canned dog and cat food
-Hard dog chew toys
