Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and supported this event. A special thank you to the (NAL) for generously donating the funds that made this Laundry Day possible.

Because of your support, community members were able to access clean clothing and essential laundry services, helping reduce barriers and meet basic needs.

As you may have heard, ICB is honored to present Mark Sanders and Teressa Perdieu with the Presidential Award for their exceptional contributions to the field of behavioral health. The awards will be presented at the 2026 Inaugural ICB Gala & Awards, to be held from 7pm-9pm on October 21, 2026 at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, Illinois.

Featuring a keynote by Mark Ishaug, President & CEO of Thresholds, the evening will include a silent auction, dinner, music, and more! Tickets are currently only available to sponsors and attendees of our Fall Conference.

MARK SANDERS

Mark Sanders, LCSW, CADC is an international speaker and consultant in behavioral health whose presentations have reached thousands throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, West Indies and Guam. He is the recipient of four lifetime achievement awards including the prestigious NAADAC Enlightenment Award. He was one of three finalists for the National Association for Addiction Professionals 50th Anniversary Legends Award. Mark is also the recipient of The Barbara Bacon Award for outstanding contributions to the social work profession as a Loyola University of Chicago alumni.

Mark is the author of five books on behavioral health recovery. He was lead writer on a trauma informed gun violence prevention curriculum which is being implemented in several large cities in the United States. His groundbreaking monograph Recovery Management co-authored with historians William White and Earnest Kurtz helped shift addictions treatment and recovery from the acute care model solely towards a Recovery Oriented System of Care.

Mark has also had a 30 year career as a university educator having taught at The University of Chicago, Loyola University of Chicago and Illinois State University School of Social Work. He is co-founder of Serenity Academy Chicago, a program which sponsors recovery-oriented peer groups in local high schools.

TERESSA PERDIEU

Ms. Perdieu completed a bachelorโ€™s and masterโ€™s degree in clinical psychology from Eastern Illinois University and entered the substance use disorder field when hired by CEAD Council in 1983. Since that time she has served in various capacities in substance use disorder prevention, treatment, and administration, serving as Executive Director since 2017.

During her work in the substance use disorder field, she has served on various statewide committees for the Department of Human Services, Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery and itโ€™s legacy agencies. She is a member of the Recovery Advisory Committee and the Womenโ€™s Committee, both subcommittee of the Illinois Advisory Council. Ms. Perdieu serves as the Vice Chair for the Illinois Association for Behavioral Health and is the Treasurer of the Illinois Council on Problem Gambling.

In addition to employment with CEAD Council, from 2000 through 2013, she also served as an adjunct faculty member at Lake Land College where she taught courses including Human Development and Child Development in the Psychology Department.
