Join us on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. at Toledo Village Hall for a FREE day of mental health and su***de prevention training!

Participants will receive:
✨ Mental Health First Aid Training
✨ QPR Su***de Prevention Certification

This training is designed for people of faith, educators, nonprofit leaders, first responders, and other community members who want to feel better prepared to recognize mental health challenges, offer support, and connect individuals with appropriate resources.

💊 Prescription Drug Safety & National Drug Take Back

Thank you to Hour House Prevention for providing these important resources on prescription medication misuse, safe storage, and proper disposal.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. This is a great opportunity to check your medicine cabinets and safely dispose of medications that are expired or no longer needed.

📍 Cumberland County Drop-Off Location:
Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office
166 Courthouse Square, Toledo

This location is also a year-round medication drop-off site.
Safely storing and disposing of medications can help prevent accidental poisoning, medication misuse, and medications getting into the wrong hands.

The resources shared here from Hour House Prevention include helpful information about recognizing prescription drug misuse, safely storing medications in your home, and properly disposing of unused medications.

💜 Prevention starts with awareness. Small steps can help keep our families and Cumberland County safer.

The Cycle Nobody Talks About

As we close out Recovery Month and enter Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we’re starting an important conversation about the intersection of substance use and domestic violence.

These issues often overlap, but they are too often addressed separately. Survivors, people in recovery, and families deserve support that recognizes the whole picture.

The Cumberland County ROSC Council and HOPE of East Central Illinois created this campaign to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage our community to connect the dots between these two issues.
