THANK YOU to Crystal Brown and Eastern Illinois University for encouraging their incoming freshmen students to serve their new community!! These students, along with Jon who drover their bus today, assisted in our pre-pack at The Mattoon Community Food Center. We packed 164 boxes of food this morning!! The students also helped transplant broccoli and cauliflower. We also cleared some old product out from one of their walk-in freezers. We could not have asked for a better group of servant volunteers than those you see in these photos.
Thanks again!!
We appreciate you!

Thank You to Rural King, our team, friends, and family for assisting us in the big garden today!! Our 3 acre garden holds our fruit trees, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, and grapes. Today we cleared weeds and cleaned up our space with an amazing team. The conditions were swampy, but the attitudes we sunny.
Thanks again for all of your help. The photo link here shows the before and after condition of the garden. Amazing transformation!! https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1AERF0CNXE2J1dovVc3OValcobZU9yZch?usp=drive_link

On this THANKFUL Thursday, we began this morning at Home Depot where Jeremy Tipton and our Mattoon Home Depot donated a pallet of Peat Moss to Fit-2-Serve. We then headed to our headquarters where we learned and played with Shelly Scott's daycare kiddos. We had arts, crafts, legos, we planted, and we toured our Bill Duey Sensory Garden. Which brings us to our final thankful thought for today. For the past few months, Terry and Chris Ward have spent countless hours transforming our sensory garden into a space we are excited to share with our community. As you can see from our photo of the space from a few years ago, we could not have hosted the daycare kids today after last night's storms if we had not developed this area over the past few years. We have had help from The Boy Scouts, master gardeners, Americorps VISTAs, Apex Energy, The Mattoon Community Trust, Coles County Farm Bureau, The United Way of Coles County, and many other dedicated volunteers and supporters.
Photos of our sensory garden as it appears today are included in this link...

On this Thankful Thursday, we would like to thank Rachel Duey and Mark Trueblood for collaborating on this generous donation of the vehicle shown here. Their desire is to support the amazing work that Bill Duey began nearly 20 years ago to equip people for works of service. What an amazing way to honor Bill and support the work we do at Fit-2-Serve!
Thank you Rachel and Mark!
Your generosity is greatly appreciated!!
