Why am I running for Maryville City School Board?
Because I believe in one simple idea: 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.
Education changed my life because someone believed in its power. My mother taught me that education is the great equalizer — a belief that has guided my journey as an educator, researcher, physicist, engineer, and small business owner.
For decades I have worked in classrooms, laboratories, and leadership roles — teaching, mentoring students, designing curricula, securing grants, and working to expand opportunities for learners from all backgrounds.
Through all of that work, one truth has remained clear: 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐞𝐝.
I believe our schools should be places where:
• Every child belongs
• Teachers are supported and respected
• Families feel heard and valued
• Students learn to think critically and explore ideas
• Public education remains strong and accessible to all
• Public funds stay in public schools
I bring to this campaign 𝐚 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭’𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐚 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫’𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠.
Most importantly, I bring a deep belief that 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞.
If you share that belief, I would be honored to have your support.
