In Kiwanis we work to improve the lives of children one community at a time. One of our greatest impacts is Imagination Library of Blount County. Our club is the local champion of this program, and we know that children's lives are changed through these books. If you're looking for a way to honor the remarkable life of Dolly, will you consider a gift in her memory? See post below for the link.

Dolly Parton created many legacies: music, philanthropy, disaster relief, economic development and more. But removing the barriers to literacy, is one of her greatest! Every month over 5,000 age-appropriate and free books are sent to children in Blount County. We honor Dolly and her legacy today, and every day through this important work. As we celebrate her life, if you'd like to make a gift in her memory, please visit this site, and below the gift amount, check the box to designate your gift to your local program partner. From there you can search in the drop down box, or enter your zip code so that your gift comes back to Blount County. $25 gives a child one book a month for a year. Dolly was the gold standard on giving back, and we're grateful for the countless ways she enriched many lives. https://donate.imaginationlibrary.com/

We managed to surprise Thomas Coulter with a Bottle Cap Bench dedicated in his honor at First Baptist Church of Maryville. Knowing Tom, it's easy to see why he was selected for this honor. He's been a member of Maryville Kiwanis since 2003, served as our club's President and has been on many committees over the years. He and his wife Donna have been members of First Baptist Church since 2004, where he has been a deacon, member of the financial committee, and helps serve meals every week at the Friday Table. He was involved in bringing Family Promise to the area, and also volunteers with the Warming Shelter. Tom has shown leadership, compassion and service to a number of nonprofits in our community.

The bench is made from 200 pounds of recycled bottle caps and lids, that members of Maryville and Tellico Village Kiwanis clubs collect, clean and recycle.

Did you spot any East Tennessee Kiwanians at the Smokies baseball game this weekend? We had a great time cheering on the home team.
