A highlight was connecting with recovery support specialists and community health professionals from the Washington County Behavioral Health Department while visiting a market in Boonsboro, MD. In late May, Executive Director Mary Newlyn attended the International Trauma Conference, featuring world-renowned experts including Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, author of "The Body Keeps the Score." The conference provided opportunities to connect with practitioners and advocates from around the world while exploring topics such as trauma following incarceration, trauma-informed care, embodied practices for social change, and innovative approaches to treating depression.
