13,000 pounds. 13,000 pounds of food.
That number is hard to even wrap around your head until you witness what it actually takes to make something like this happen.
This past Saturday, Marshfield showed up in the most incredible way for the National Letter Carrier Food Drive. We are still processing the magnitude of what was accomplished together.
Our carriers went far beyond an already demanding day, collecting food across town with care, patience, and determination. Furnace Brook Middle School opened their doors to us, giving us the space to receive, sort, stack, organize and move an overwhelming amount of food through in just hours. Nearly 100 volunteers walked through those doors ready to work. Young kids, lifting bags beside grandparents. Friends, families, neighbors, students, athletes, parents. So many hands doing heavy lifting in every sense of the phrase.
It was hard work, physical work. But it was also a community in its purest form. That is what care looks like when people choose to show up for one another.
To every single person who donated food, carried boxes, sorted cans, directed traffic, loaded trucks, gave up their Saturday, or simply believe this mattered… Thank you. Truly. Marshfield did not disappoint. You helped fill our shelves and remind us what a community is capable of when we move together. 🍎
