My first year water glassing eggs. Autumn is here, the days are growing shorter, and the ladies are slowing down egg production. Soon, they’ll have their well deserved winter hiatus from laying and I’m hoping to enjoy their yummy eggs during their winter break. Thank you ladies! 💕 .

It's with great sorrow that I share our beloved Kismet crossed over the rainbow bridge at 1:00 am this morning. Only 2 days ago, I received her DNA results and dicovered she was registered with the Arabian Horse Association. Her registered name was Forever Myfantasy. She was born on 6/30/2001. She was a broodmare, and momma to 5 babies; her last, a c**t named Florenteyn+, born on 5/7/14 in Magnolia Texas. How she ended up at an auction clear across the country, in deplorable condition, is a very sad mystery.

In the 4 months she was here, she was brought back to a healthy weight through good nutrition. Bloodwork determined she had a condition called Cushing's Disease and she was started on daily medication to keep it under control. She became "herd boss" in our little herd of 3 and enjoyed running along our "track paddock". She was super sweet and kind and a Joy to have around.

Sadly, a month ago, she experienced a bout of colic (abdominal pain). Fortunately, we were able to pull her out of it with treatment. Colic can be life threatening. Last weekend, she was colicky again. Once again, she seemed to pull through the critical stages. She seemed to feel better on Sunday, but colicked again on Monday. The vet sedated her and "tubed" her, a procedure that involves passing a tube through her nose and into her stomach to deliver water, electrolytes and mineral oil into her digestive system with the hope of flushing out any manure impaction that may be causing the pain. It seemed to work, but then late last night, she went downhill again and, despite pain meds, seemed to be in significant pain. Our wonderful veterinarian, Kendyl Foristall-Drass, came out in the late night/wee hours of the morning to see her. After an examination, the decision was made to remove her suffering and peacefully put her to rest. A big Thank you to Dr. Kendyl, Dr.Laura and Jessica from Highland Hill Veterinary Service for all of the care and compassion you gave to Kiss. Also, Thank you to Conneticut Horse Cremation, LLC for your wonderful and dignified service.

Our new website just went LIVE!! It's so easy to say to ourselves, "I'm not ready", or "It's not good enough yet"... and while I'm sure I may need to tweak things here and there, especially on mobile view, today was my self determined deadline to hit the PUBLISH button! So I did! Big exhale!

On Friday, we had the pleasure of hosting 8 great guys from the 2023 MHS graduating class during the annual "We Are Marshfield Project". We're so thankful for all of their hard work, digging post holes, prepping garden beds and installing a new scratching post for the animals! With bug season upon us, I'm sure the scratching post will be put to good use in the upcoming months! A shout out too to my friend, Diane S. and the Town of Marshfield for donating an old street sweeper brush for the scratching post! Thank you!
