Talking Information Center

Talking Information Center Founded 1978 In 1977, Ed Perry of Duxbury, was granted an FCC license to operate WATD-FM. Ed had heard about reading services in other parts of the country.

TIC staff and volunteers provide human-voiced broadcasts of local news, articles and items of interest to visually impaired and otherwise disabled listeners throughout Massachusetts to promote independence and enrich quality of life. TIC was born out of a passion and desire to bring the printed word to life for thousands of residents in Massachusetts that desperately needed access to information

that otherwise was not available to them. Knowing there were none available in New England, Ed promised to donate his SCA signal for use as a radio reading service. When WATD went on the air in 1977, Ron Bersani, a teacher at Marshfield High School volunteered to help out when things got started. Ron was the Executive Director of TIC for over 30 years. He retired this past year and appointed Jim Bunnell as the new Executive Director.

What an inspiring afternoon at the Empowering Women Luncheon hosted by the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce!

We were honored to attend on behalf of the Talking Information Center alongside our daughters, thanks to the generous sponsorship of & Sons Glass.

We heard powerful stories from an incredible panel of women whose honesty, strength, and resilience left a lasting impression. From laughter to heartfelt moments, the event was filled with inspiration, connection, and a true sense of community.

It was especially meaningful to share this experience with the next generation of young women and to remind them — and ourselves — of the importance of supporting, uplifting, and empowering one another.
