Have you ever felt guilty for asking God why?

You may have asked, "Why me, Lord?" Pastor Wally Long asked that question too. He went to the only place he knew to find answers, and that place was the Scriptures. He found David and the Psalmist asking God why, and God never condemned them. Asking God why is communicating with our heavenly Father.

"Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning." Lamentations 3:21-23

God does not let bad go to waste in our lives. He can take the ugly and turn it into something beautiful, and He shows Himself strong when we are weak. God is always faithful, and He walks side by side with us through every valley.

Healing is a journey, and healing is also a decision. God goes with us through the wilderness, and His Word replaces the lies of the enemy with truth. The Holy Spirit fills every broken place, and community carried Shannen through the hardest days. God was not done with her, and He has plans for each of us. We only need to be willing and open to them.

Have you ever felt intimidated by Scripture, unsure where to even begin? You don't need theology degrees or years of study to jump into God's Word.

Ann White and Steven Rice, Associate Director of Charles Stanley Institute, talk through the authority of Scripture in our everyday lives. Steven started his journey in God's Word with the book of John and one verse, John 3:16, and let it shape how he understood the heart of God.

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16.

Ann shares a similar experience, spending twenty years carrying her Bible to church before she learned to actually read it for herself through observation, interpretation, and application.

Growth in our study of God's Word doesn't require expertise. It requires a willingness to open the Bible, ask what it says, ask what it means, and ask how to live it out. Steven shares a picture of God's Word as a diamond, showing something new every time it catches the light. No matter where you are on your journey with God and His Word, Scripture still holds more to discover.

Where do you turn when you know you're not living up to who God made you to be?

Ann White welcomes Pete Wilson to discuss the book of Romans and why it has shaped his walk with the Lord for years. Pete shares how reading Romans in long sittings, rather than hopping around, helped him see how Paul builds his argument and to whom he was writing. Ann and Pete talk about the divided church in Rome and how Paul kept pairing hard truths with God's mercy, especially in Romans 3, where he names everyone as a sinner and then points straight to being justified through Jesus.

"For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard." Romans 3:23

"Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins." Romans 3:24

The conversation moves into Romans 7, Paul's own honest confession of failure, followed by no condemnation.

"I want to do what is good, but I don't. I don't want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway." Romans 7:19

"So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus." Romans 8:1

Ann and Pete close by talking about the Holy Spirit as comforter and guide, and what it looks like to apply Scripture in ordinary moments, at work, at home, and with grown children who ask hard questions.
