“I’m Thriving.”

That’s what 70 years of Special Needs Cobb is really about.

If you’ve driven past one of our billboards around Cobb County this year, you’ve seen some of the incredible people at the heart of our mission. People who have a safe place to call home. People who are connected to their communities. People who are thriving.

For 70 years, Special Needs Cobb has stood alongside individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Today, that legacy continues through lifelong housing, family resources, education, and connection.

And on Saturday, August 15, we’re putting that legacy 'Up in Lights.'

Join us at the Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre on Marietta Square for an Old Hollywood-inspired celebration with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, live entertainment, and seven decades of stories worth celebrating.

This isn't your typical fundraising dinner. It's a party 70 years in the making.

Come celebrate the people who started it, the people who carried it forward, and—most importantly—the people who remind us why this work matters.

"I Belong."

For 70 years, Special Needs Cobb has worked to create a community where adults with special needs can live, thrive, and belong.

This week, that message became especially meaningful as Phil and his mother, Kay, stood in front of Phil's billboard on Cobb Parkway.

As Board President Emeritus, Kay has dedicated countless hours to helping Special Needs Cobb grow and serve generations of families. Like so many parents before her, she dreamed of a future where her loved one would be valued, supported, and included.

Today, she got to see that message shining back at her.

"I Belong."

As we celebrate our 70th Anniversary and put our residents, supporters, and partners Up in Lights throughout 2026, we're reminded that our story has always been about people—families who believed in a vision, advocates who helped build it, and residents like Phil who inspire it every day.

Thank you, Kay, for helping light the way for so many families over the years. And thank you, Phil, for reminding us why this work matters.

We are honored to share that Special Needs Cobb has been awarded a $15,000 grant through the Cobb County Fair Association! North Georgia State Fair

As a first-time recipient, we are deeply grateful for this investment in our mission and in the adults with special needs we serve throughout our community.

This generous support helps us continue providing safe, supportive homes and critical resources for adults with special needs while ensuring they have opportunities to thrive for years to come.

Thank you to the Fair Association, its leadership, volunteers, and supporters for making this Giving Campaign possible. We are honored to be among this year's recipients.

We're still smiling from Sparkle & Style 2026.

Thanks to an incredible community of supporters, volunteers, sponsors, models, and friends, we raised more than $30,000 to support adults with special needs.

Today for Prader-Willi Syndrome Awareness Day, we’re sharing a few facts about PWS and why understanding and compassion matter so much.

At Special Needs Cobb, we’ve had the privilege of supporting residents with PWS over the years, and their lives continue to remind us that people are always more than a diagnosis.
