New Leaders Training is an opportunity for new CAC leadership to learn, connect and collaborate. Yesterday, we spent time in Forsyth, Georgia exchanging laughs, ideas and solutions!

Every young person deserves to be met with dignity, safety, and belief in their strength.

Professionals from Douglas County and surrounding areas recently completed the two-day Becoming Me Facilitator Training, developed by Paths to Becoming. Becoming Me is a gender-specific, strengths-based curriculum designed to support youth impacted by commercial sexual exploitation as they build resilience, connection, and hope for their futures.

In our new video, participants reflect on what they learned and how it will shape the care they offer young people in our community.

We're grateful to our partners at Paths to Becoming, The Trinity Center, and the Douglas County District Attorney's Office for making this training possible, and to every professional committed to creating spaces where youth can heal on their own terms.

What did you do this weekend!?

Well, our team spent time in Savannah, Georgia cheering on our friends at the Coastal Children's Advocacy Center! Their team led an immersive Human Trafficking Prevention Escape Room at the Savannah Interagency Diversity Council Youth Human Trafficking Summit. The interactive escape room challenged participants to recognize how traffickers use social media, gaming, fake opportunities and technology to build trust and manipulate others.

We left in awe of the young people and safe adults who spent their Saturday afternoon investing in the safety of their community!

That's a wrap on our Directors Wellness Retreat! We are grateful to our dynamic workshop facilitators for spending time with our network discussing workplace wellness strategies to reduce burnout and secondary traumatic stress!

Our Board Member, Kevin McNeil, opened the retreat by "Sounding the Alarm" on workplace wellbeing and recommitting to our calling.

Dr. Andrea Stinson, with Resilient Georgia, took directors through a Community Resiliency Model Workshop, introducing six wellness skills to bring the body, mind, and spirit back into greater balance.

Helena LaBarbera, a certified sound healer, immersed directors in a soothing sound bath.

We ended the day with a charge from Dr. Keisha Buchanan, with Next Step Counseling, to not only lead well but live well. Her workshop helped us examine personal and organizational risk factors, practice realistic wellness strategies, and develop an actionable plan for building a healthier workplace culture.

We are inspired by the CAC leaders who took time away from their busy centers to learn, connect, and unwind. Thank you for taking the time to pour into yourselves. ✨

On May 15th - 17th 2026, CACGA Hosted Part 1 of Basic EMDR training in beautiful Dalton Ga, through the Trauma Recovery EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Programs! Eighteen Mental Health clinicians were selected from across the state and given an opportunity to train under EMDR Senior Trainers; Marcia Maxwell Holland, LMHC, RN (Pensacola, FL) & Christine Mark-Griffin, LCSW, PMH-C (Sanfranciso, CA). The 3-day intensive experience was a testament to the dedicated professionals who strive to provide research-based best practice trauma-focused services to Georgia's most vulnerable children and families.
