Tiny patients, big hopes 🐢💚

These two loggerhead hatchlings are the first hatchlings of the season to arrive at The Turtle Hospital! Nesting season runs from April through October, and after roughly 55 days of incubation, hatchlings begin making their way into the world.

Unfortunately, these little ones were found emaciated and too weak to begin their ocean journey. After checking them in, our team gave them a quick rinse, recorded their weights, and administered a small amount of dextrose to help boost their energy levels.

We’ll continue monitoring them closely and determine whether they’re strong enough to be released back into the wild today or if they’ll need a little extra care before returning to the ocean.

Stay tuned for updates on these tiny loggerheads! 🌊💙

One sea turtle. One incredible comeback story. 🐢✨

This is Harlow, one of our most memorable rehabilitation success stories.

Over the next few days, we’re taking a trip down memory lane and revisiting her journey - from rescue and recovery to becoming the inspiration for a mural by renowned marine artist Wyland.

As Wyland’s ocean conservation artwork makes headlines once again, we thought it was the perfect time to share the special connection between his work, The Turtle Hospital, and one very remarkable sea turtle.

Stay tuned for the rest of Harlow’s story 💙🌊

Happy National Veterinary Appreciation Day! 🩺🐢💚

Today, we’re celebrating the incredible veterinary team behind every sea turtle success story at The Turtle Hospital.

From emergency rescues and late-night treatments to surgeries, diagnostics, rehabilitation plans, and release evaluations, our veterinarians and veterinary staff work tirelessly to give every turtle the best possible chance at returning to the wild.

Their expertise, dedication, and compassion make all the difference for patients facing boat strikes, fishing line entanglements, cold stunning, fibropapillomatosis, infections, and countless other challenges ❤️‍🩹

While the releases often steal the spotlight, every successful return to the ocean is made possible by the many hours of care that happen behind the scenes.

Please join us in thanking our entire veterinary team for their unwavering commitment to protecting and saving sea turtles. We are grateful for all that you do, today and every day 💚🌊
