Tiny patients, big hopes 🐢💚
These two loggerhead hatchlings are the first hatchlings of the season to arrive at The Turtle Hospital! Nesting season runs from April through October, and after roughly 55 days of incubation, hatchlings begin making their way into the world.
Unfortunately, these little ones were found emaciated and too weak to begin their ocean journey. After checking them in, our team gave them a quick rinse, recorded their weights, and administered a small amount of dextrose to help boost their energy levels.
We’ll continue monitoring them closely and determine whether they’re strong enough to be released back into the wild today or if they’ll need a little extra care before returning to the ocean.
Stay tuned for updates on these tiny loggerheads! 🌊💙
