NAMI Family-to-Family is a free, 8-session educational program for family, significant others and friends of people with mental health conditions. It is a designated evidenced-based program. This means that research shows that the program significantly improves the coping and problem-solving abilities of the people closest to a person with a mental health condition.

NAMI Family-to-Family is taught by NAMI-trained family members who have been there, and includes presentations, discussions and interactive exercises.

Course Dates: 6/1/26 - 6/24/26
Schedule:
Mondays and Wednesdays 6:00PM - 8:30PM;
Location: These 8 FREE classes will be held virtually.

NAMI Family-to-Family not only provides information and strategies for taking care of the person you love, but you'll also find out that you're not alone. Recovery is a journey, and there is hope.

The group setting of NAMI Family-to-Family provides mutual support and shared positive impact—experience compassion and reinforcement from people who understand your situation. Sharing your own experience may help others in your class.

In the program, you'll learn about:
➡️How to solve problems and communicate effectively
➡️Taking care of yourself and managing your stress
➡️Supporting your loved one with compassion
Finding and using local supports and services
➡️Up-to-date information on mental health conditions and how they affect the brain
➡️How to handle a crisis
➡️Current treatments and therapies
➡️The impact of mental health conditions on the entire family

We continue to raise awareness for mental health & reduce stigma during Guidance/Care Center week as proclaimed by Mayor Michelle Lincoln and the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. Make it a priority to do something this weekend to take care of yourself- We all have mental health! 💚 Thank you Monroe County for helping us in this initiative

Last week GCC received a Proclamation from the City of Marathon for Mental Health Awareness & GCC’s 53rd Anniversary. Thank you to the City of Marathon, Florida for recognizing the importance of mental health, celebrating GCC, all of our staff and the critical work we do in the Florida Keys😊

We are incredibly grateful to the Ocean Reef Community Foundation for your continued financial support.

Today’s we were honored to accept a grant award of $25,000 towards our mental health housing at The Heron, our assisted living facility for those with mental illness. The impact of this generous funding is keeping adults housed in a safe, stable living environment while keeping them close to their families.

We are deeply grateful for your partnership and support. Your generosity has brought relief and hope, and we cannot thank you enough 💚

Thank you to our State Representative, Jim Mooney who sponsored GCC special project, The Heron Rebuild. We have made great progress on the new building for mental health housing and expect residents to move in by the end of 2026 🏠
