Happy World Sea Lion Day from our newest sea lion family members, Clyde and Raleigh! These impressive males bring plenty of personality and lots of loud vocalizations!

Did you know sea lions are among the most vocal pinnipeds? They use a variety of sounds to communicate with one another, helping identify the caller’s species, s*x, age, and location while also attracting or repelling other sea lions.

Tanner and his target pole!

Target poles are one of the many tools our training staff uses during sessions to help shape behaviors. In this photo, Tanner is coming just high enough out of the water to touch the buoy with his rostrum.

Training sessions provide great mental and physical stimulation for our dolphins, especially for Tanner because he loves to learn! 🤓 Behaviors like this can also become the building blocks for more complex behaviors later on, such as a back tail walk!
