One week ago today, we gathered in Salina for our annual Kansas Audubon Chapter Meetup! 🐦

A big thank you to the Smoky Hills Audubon Society for being such wonderful hosts. They gave us a tour of the Harold Lear Wildlife Habitat and shared more about their chapter and the work they’re doing in their community.

Representatives from five of our nine Kansas Audubon chapters, along with AOK staff, came together for a day of sharing ideas, learning, and connecting. Sessions covered advocacy and developing position statements, as well as membership strategies from recruitment to building community partnerships.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to connect with like-minded people and strengthen the network of people working to protect birds, wildlife, and habitat across Kansas. 🌻

August is Make‑a‑Will Month, and we're highlighting an important truth: creating a will doesn’t have to be complicated but it does make a meaningful difference.

Many of us plan to write a will “someday,” yet it’s one of the most critical actions we can take to protect those we love and make sure our wishes are honored. No matter the size of your estate, a will can provide clarity and peace of mind for you and your loved ones.

If conserving Kansas’ wildlife and wild places is part of that legacy, you might consider including Audubon of Kansas in your plans. Even a simple beneficiary designation can help protect the prairies and wildlife you care about for generations. 🌱

The Central Grasslands stretch across nearly 700 million acres across Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Indigenous Lands, supporting wildlife, agriculture, rural communities, and healthy ecosystems.

The Central Grasslands Roadmap Initiative brings people and organizations together around the shared goal of protecting this vital ecosystem.
