FHBB is looking for an artist! We want to bring some color and creativity to the entrance of The Market with a mural that reflects our mission and our community.

This is a paid opportunity, and we're looking to hire an artist to bring the final design to life!

Submissions of interest are due October 23. Artists do not need to submit a design at this stage. More information about the project and how to submit can be found in the artist call: bit.ly/fhbbmural2026

September had FHBB staff and volunteers running fast!

We had our busiest day of the month top out at 326 visits. This was a big day for us as we head into our busy season. If this is the new normal we’re looking at, we expect the fall and winter to bring another increase in guests.

We’re getting ready, and there are a few ways you can support FHBB!

FHBB + SNAP = more resources for our neighbors ❤

Flint Hills Breadbasket provides food, while SNAP helps our neighbors stretch their food budget in grocery stores. One cannot do it without the other.

There will be a blood drive at FHBB on Wednesday 10/07 from 10am–4pm. Type O donors are especially needed.

We look out for each other and everyone in our community (staff, volunteers, and guests) in some way or another. ❤️

However… if it’s the sweetest of our volunteers, she’s above all else.

For transparency: We don’t actually try to fight people. Just specifically not Mercy.

We hit a new high in our slower season. Last Thursday, we served as many households in one day as we generally see around the winter holidays (our busiest time of year). For many reasons, including the rising cost of essentials like food, more neighbors are turning FHBB services and other non profits for support.

As we head toward the giving and holiday season, we’re preparing for even greater need. To learn more about how you can help, visit our website: flinthillsbreadbasket.org

August 2026 brought some new records in The Market. We saw the highest total visits, unique families, and first-time visitors. As we approach the end of the year, we're expecting to hit the highest number of everything in a single calendar year.

As we continue to see growth, we know our information is getting to the people who need it the most. We're so happy to see so many new faces come through our doors every day and join the community we're building inside and outside of our walls.

September is Hunger Action Month! This marks the 19th year since this month of advocacy began, raising awareness about food insecurity and encouraging communities to take action.

This month, we’re asking our community to support FHBB by donating, volunteering with our outreach team, and learning more about food insecurity.
