Whose sessions do you always make sure to go to at conventions? Who comes to mind when you think of someone who has made a difference nationally with JEA? Consider nominating that person for the Carl Towley Award!

The Carl Towley Award is JEA’s highest honor and is presented to a member whose work is significantly beneficial and of superior value to the national JEA and to scholastic journalism.

JEA is pleased to announce the winners of the 2026 Junior High/Middle School National Media Contest.

315 students submitted entries in the yearbook, news publication, broadcast, graphic design and photography categories.

There are 223 winning entries comprising 48 superior, 100 excellent and 75 honorable mention awards.

JEA's National Yearbook Adviser of the Year program is designed to honor outstanding yearbook advisers and their exemplary work from the previous year, as well as throughout their careers.

The top advisers will be named H.L. Hall National Yearbook Adviser of the Year, Commended Yearbook Adviser, Distinguished Yearbook Adviser or Special Recognition Yearbook Adviser.
