Hoping everyone has a relaxing week last week. Maybe you even got some shopping in. Today is giving tuesday. It's a worldwide day of giving. Giving what we can to causes that mean something to us makes a difference in the lives of others.

Feeling a bit of a 7, following a weekend of highly impactful theatre (2 one acts written by 2 drama therapy students, directed by 1 drama therapy student, and including 1 drama therapy student who acted in a show) and a fabulous training (attended by drama therapy, counseling, social work, and premed students and faculty members).

CATS would like to welcome counseling students, drama therapy students, interested faculty, and interested K-State alumni to join us for this training event. Please help us get the word out.

We will be covering the effects of trauma and how it relates to hearing voices, paranoia, and unusual beliefs; appropriate language; how to start a therapy group and what might come up in a therapy group; and more! We're squeezing as much as we can into 3hrs.

We love that the therapy community is starting to see the benefits of incorporating Dia de Los Mu***os into their practice. (The holiday falls on the 1st and 2nd of November each year.)

*** If you're in Manhattan KS today or tomorrow, stop by the mall between 5 and 8pm for a special event that partnered with our drama therapy students. There will be an oferenda to honor our community's loved ones and arts and crafts projects. ***

Día De Los Mu***os is a Latinx holiday that is celebrated mainly by Mexican culture. Our therapist Gaby shares about how learning about such a rich tradition from her culture allowed her to create her own therapeutic experience and move through her grief. Click here to read more about her story.

It's almost Halloween so this check in seemed fitting.

Here at K-State we just had our Barrier Free Halloween Party and Counseling Theories Halloween Party, it's a windy day and the leaves are falling, and tonight is the opening of Frankenstein. So we're feeling a mix of 1 & 2...but only if that cup is filled with some hot chocolate or warm apple cider.
