K-State has once again earned the Carnegie Foundation’s Community Engagement Classification, a national recognition of meaningful, long-term partnerships that create real impact.

This honor reflects how K-State works alongside communities to strengthen workforce development, advance sustainability, support military families, improve food security and more.

K-State is one of just 237 institutions nationwide and one of only three in Kansas to receive this designation in the current cycle.

From rural Kansas towns to global partners, community engagement is at the heart of who we are. 💜🌾

Last week's Water Wednesday brought together researchers from across campus for what's become a monthly tradition — a chance to share work, ask questions and find collaborators you might not meet otherwise.

The Kansas Water Institute started these gatherings to do exactly what happened last week: get people talking across disciplines about water research and K-State's land-grant work. Sometimes the best project ideas come from conversations that wouldn't happen anywhere else.

"Water Wednesday gives people a chance to meet new collaborators, hear what others are working on and spark ideas they might not have considered on their own. Those connections are often where the most meaningful projects begin." -Susan Metzger, director of strategic interdisciplinary program development

Kansas State University is building a community that shows up monthly to learn from each other and figure out how to work together on the water challenges that matter.

Next Water Wednesday is just around the corner. Hope to see you there.
