At our June Advisory Board meeting, we celebrated Syl Dupuis, who is stepping off the board after serving since the Center’s founding in 2017. He played a crucial role in defining the Center’s mission and is an enthusiastic advocate for ethical discourse. Thank you, Syl, for your service on the Center for Ethics Advisory Board!

What effect does globalization have on unemployment?

According to Stephan Unger, Professor of Finance at Saint Anselm College, globalization can either raise or lower unemployment depending on one key factor of the country in question.

What makes Transformative Dialogue ethical? In his talk titled "Transformative Dialogue: Co-Creating Conversation in Communities and Organizations," Dr. Erik Cleven (Politics, Saint Anselm College) explains how the Transformative Dialogue model is the ethical choice for conversations, especially those in which people may disagree.

High school students from around New Hampshire joined us for the final Ethics Circle event of the 2025-26 academic year last week.

Philosophy Professor Bob Anderson led them in a discussion about rights, and representatives from ARMI (Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute) discussed biomanufactured cells, tissues, and organs and the ethical questions we must consider with this technology.

We look forward to seeing many of our high school students again in the fall!

In her workshop, Dr. Beerel walked attendees through the development of the ego, the benefits of mindfulness, and the ways in which mindfulness is important for effective leadership.

What don't facilitators do in the Transformative Dialogue model? Dr. Erik Cleven, a Professor of Politics at Saint Anselm College, outlines how a Transformative Dialogue facilitator's role differs from the role of facilitators in a more traditional forms of dialogue. For instance, they should not bring in their own set of ground rules or push people towards dialogue and agreement.

In this video, Dr. Erik Cleven (Department of Politics, Saint Anselm College) describes how a facilitator ought to interact with discussants if they are working within a Transformative Dialogue model. Their role includes respecting individual choices and inter-personal perspectives, as well as recognizing the variety of viewpoints that exist within any identity group.
