This Saturday, June 20, tune in to Wisconsin Public Radio at 12pm Central to hear our April production of Mozart's Così fan tutte, a delightful romantic comedy full of sublime arias, sparkling ensembles, and the complications that ensue when young love and flirtation encounter reality.

Two sisters, two suitors, and a drunken wager about the nature of fidelity – what could possibly go wrong? Tune in for love, laughter, and true humanity, as a vibrant young cast brings this enthralling classic to vivid life.

Starring Sarah Tucker, Sun-Ly Pierce, Emily Treigle, Martin Luther Clark, Laureano Quant, and Andrew Wilkowske. Conducted by Emily Senturia with the Madison Opera Chorus and Madison Symphony Orchestra.

This opera is sung in Italian and runs approximately 3 hours, including an intermission that will feature an insightful interview with cast members and Maestro Emily Senturia, conducted by WPR’s Lori Skelton.

Opera in the Park is one month away, and we want to share more about it! Enjoy some photos from last year's performances and read on to learn more about this free summer concert.

🎤 Who: Four outstanding soloists–

🎵 What: A Madison summer tradition celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the free concert of opera and Broadway favorites draws audience members from across Wisconsin and beyond to pack a picnic, gather friends, and share a beautiful night of music under the stars. The performance will last approximately two hours and 15 minutes, including one intermission. Repertoire for OITP 2026 includes selections from Carmen, Norma, Rigoletto, Sweeney Todd, The Tales of Hoffmann, and more!

📅 When: Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 8pm (Rain date: Sunday, July 19 at 8pm)

🌳 Where: Garner Park, 333 S. Rosa Road, Madison.

🎼 How:
• Parking is available in University Research Park lots.
• Attendees are encouraged to bring picnics, blankets, and chairs. Alcohol is permitted but not sold in the park.
• On the day of the concert, Garner Park will open at 7am. Audience members may not leave items in the park prior to this time.

✨ Why: Opera in the Park is free for everyone to attend, and a wonderful opportunity to experience incredible music with friends and family in one of Madison's lovely parks. Join us as we celebrate the power of connection through beautiful performances, beautiful music, and a beautiful night.

This Saturday, June 13, tune in to Wisconsin Public Radio at 12pm Central to hear our February 2026 world premiere of Everlasting Faint, a thrilling new work by Madison composer Scott Gendel that captivated audiences at every performance.

Based on the true story of the 1897 Greenbrier Ghost, Everlasting Faint is a sweeping American opera about a mother’s journey to find justice for her daughter, all set to a riveting score that blends folk songs, soaring arias, ghostly melodies, and richly-textured large-scale ensembles into an emotional whole. Don't miss your only chance to hear this acclaimed new opera!

Starring Katherine Pracht, Tori Tedeschi Adams, Andrew Bidlack, Emily Birsan, Alan Dunbar, Matthew Treviño, Robert A. Goderich, Alexandra Burch, Madison Barrett, Ryan Nash, Lifan Deng, and Oliver Thornburgh. Directed by Keturah Stickann. Conducted by Stephanie Rhodes Russell with the Madison Opera Chorus and Madison Symphony Orchestra.

The opera runs approximately 2 hours 30 minutes, including one intermission. The broadcast will feature interviews with composer Scott Gendel and librettist Sandra Flores-Strand, and with cast members and Maestro Stephanie Rhodes Russell, conducted by WPR’s Lori Skelton.

Join us for a special Prelude Dinner to benefit Opera in the Park, held prior to the concert in the tent next to the stage.

Every year, our dedicated volunteers help make Opera in the Park a success, and we would love to have you join us! We need individuals to help sell light sticks and t-shirts, hand out playbills, help with parking, set-up, and other duties. Shifts are available the day before the concert, the afternoon of the concert, and during the concert. You can sign up with a friend, too!
