MCF's 2025 Annual Report is out now! 2025 was an exciting year of growth and change at MCF. The Goodman Nonprofit Center opened and launched its first program - the Goodman Nonprofit Fellowship. MCF developed a third-party asset management program. We distributed a collective $31.2 million to the community through grants and distributions from donor advised funds and endowments.

MCF honored the life and legacy of Carol and John Toussaint and their remarkable contributions to the Madison community. As we wrapped up 2025, Bob Sorge announced his plan to retire in 2026 after serving MCF for 19 years.

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBB) changed many of the tax planning conversations advisors had been having with their clients about charitable giving. Prior to these changes, bunching charitable contributions into specific years was a tax-smart strategy for many taxpayers. But how does that advice hold up today?

This month's advisor blog revisits the practice of "bunching" under the new tax laws enacted last year. Read the full blog post on our website at https://madisongives.org/advisors/ideas_insights_blog/bunching-revisited/

Thank you to all who were able to join us for Madison Gives, an evening celebrating philanthropy and impact! It was wonderful to see so many familiar and new faces gathered to support our community.

We recognized Ray and Linda Allen and their commitment to supporting Madison youth through an endowment at Operation Fresh Start. We saw the inspiring story of Christina Walker and her family's journey to home ownership through The Road Home. We celebrated Bob Sorge and his mark on the community as he heads towards retirement at the end of this year.

Thank you to our generous sponsors for making this another memorable year! The event livestream and all of the videos shared at Madison Gives are available on our website at: madisongives.org/celebrate26

For many people, charitable legacy planning is about far more than what they leave behind; it’s about what they choose to carry forward. Their legacy reflects the people, opportunities and causes they hope will continue to thrive long into the future.

Camile Zanoni is moving into a new role at MCF: Director of Donor and Legacy Engagement. In our latest blog, Camille discusses legacy giving and the transition to this new role where she will work closely with individuals, families and advisors to make philanthropic goals a reality.

When we launched the Goodman Nonprofit Center last year, a primary goal was to provide learning and community building opportunities tailored to people working at nonprofits. The goal of these events is to help people across our sector learn, improve skills, build relationships and collaborate with peers at other organizations. We plan to host events that will be relevant to people at a wide range of organizations, in a variety of roles and with different experience levels.

The latest Goodman Nonprofit Center blog post details some upcoming events and trainings and how they further the mission of the Nonprofit Center. Read the full post at gnpc.org/blog

The Goodman Nonprofit Center is offering a workshop! Join us for Demystifying Impact Data and Corporate Funding with Sara Ansell, Director of Analytics and Innovation at True Impact on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Catholic Multicultural Center.

This workshop is a practical, nonprofit-centered conversation about impact measurement and storytelling. In Part One of the session, we’ll demystify how corporate social responsibility teams think about impact—not to promote corporate funding, but to make those expectations clearer. In Part Two, we’ll explore how nonprofits can clarify their own definitions of impact, identify measurement approaches that are realistic for their context and communicate their work in ways that feel accurate and grounded.
