The purpose of these pages is to facilitate a positive community for MD alumni and MD students with topics relevant to the UWSMPH. While we welcome and encourage postings, the WMAA reserves the right to remove comments, links, photos or other content that it deems off-topic, obscene, a violation of intellectual property rights or privacy laws, commercial, or otherwise illegal or not germane to the purpose of these pages. Our status as a public institution also means that the university has to comply with certain legal requirements when responding to complaints about a post or requests for posts or comments to be removed. We don’t want to admit it, but the chilly temps are just around the corner. Fear not, however, the Medical Student Association has you covered!

Just when you think medical school FLIES by, residency begins and time warps again...

Since graduating, Max Wetzel, MD '23 conducted his family medicine residency at Mayo in La Crosse. Along the way, he volunteered with Dr. Sig Gundersen III at Pine Ridge Reservation, traveled to South Korea with fellow alums for classmate Jason Kim's wedding, traveled to Bolivia on a global health rotation, hiked around the country with his fiancée-now-wife Tali, got married, had a gorgeous baby daughter - and had a recent visit from M4 Nate Bronstad!

Congrats on creating a wonderful life, Max - and on soon beginning your next chapter as a physician at Emplify Health in Onalaska!

HOT off the press, WMAA's Quarterly magazine, arriving in mailboxes soon! In the meantime, check out our link for some great stories, including a nod to WMAA's 70th anniversary.

For 70 years, WMAA has fostered strong relationships with medical students at . Connections remain strong as the students transition into the realm of alumni — fanning out throughout Wisconsin, the nation, and beyond. Among the many great stories featured in "Badger Physicians Improving Lives" is Lawrence Moore, MD '19, MPH '19.

Moore earned his medical degree in the school's TRIUMPH program and completed a master of public health degree here. Having served as a co-president of the MSA, he has fond memories of working with the WMAA. Daily, he uses the stethoscope gifted to him through WMAA by Alex Tucker, MD ’75, a former (now deceased) WMAA board member whom Moore was grateful to meet (also pictured).

Coming full circle to help others succeed, Moore is an associate program director of TRIUMPH, teaches in the Aurora Family Medicine Residency Program — from which he graduated — and practices family medicine in an Aurora Health Care outpatient clinic in Milwaukee.

How fortunate are we to have such awesome alumni!!
