Happy Colobine Monkey Day to our very own colobus, Sammy!

His favorite treat are peanuts and he LOVES browse such as mulberry, honey locust, and willow.

Sammy enjoys hanging out with the hyrax trio, especially male Curly. He is also a big fan of long midday naps 💤.

At almost 30, Sammy is the 3rd oldest male colobus monkey in an AZA facility!!!

Happy World Colobine Monkey Day!

Today we celebrate Africa's most threatened group of monkeys, the colobus.

Colobus Monkeys biggest threat today is humans. Due to our growing population, forests are being cut down to make room for roads, settlements, and agriculture.

At one time, colobus monkeys were hunted exclusively for their beautiful fur.

🐐🐐 Happy World Goat Day! 🐐🐐

Every year on August 21st, goats are celebrated as they have been crucial to humans for the last 10,000 years!

Being one of the first animals to be domesticated, they provide us with food, clothing, fertilizer, and companionship. Goats also help stop the spread of noxious weeds by grazing and this helps promote native plants.

Stop by the zoo to give our herd a friendly scratch or two!
