We’re excited to share that YOU helped raise about $23,000 so far (before expenses)!

Our sponsors help cover the costs of putting on the race, which means registration fees and individual donations go directly to food insecurity programs at Open Doors for Refugees.

Please help us thank the local businesses and organizations that made today possible 💙

Strong communities run on people who share their voice.

WORT 89.9 FM is Madison’s volunteer-powered community radio station. They amplify underrepresented voices, celebrate diverse culture, and connect neighbors through music, news, and conversation.

We’re proud to have WORT FM as an in-kind sponsor of the 45th Freeze for Food. Their support helps spread the word so every registration and donation goes directly to Open Doors for Refugees, helping families build stability and a new start in Madison.

🥫 Run. Walk. Give.

In addition to the 45th Annual Freeze for Food, we’re also hosting a food drive to support the Fritz Food Pantry at the Goodman Community Center.

The pantry provides groceries to more than 450 households every week, helping ensure our neighbors have access to healthy, fresh food when they need it most.

If you’re joining us on race day, please consider bringing a donation.

Most-needed items:
🥫 Canned fruits and vegetables
🥫 Canned proteins (tuna, chicken, beans)
🥫 Peanut butter
🥫 Pasta and rice
🥫 Shelf-stable meals and soups
🥫 Personal care items

Every item you bring helps keep local families’ tables full.

📍 Drop donations at the event (Vilas Park Shelter)

👟 Have you checked out the course maps for the 5K and 10K?

If you’re still on the fence about walking or running at the 45th Annual Freeze for Food, take a look 🗺️ The routes might be the nudge you need.

Both courses start and finish at the Vilas Park Shelter.

The 5K follows the beautiful Lake Wingra path, and the 10K takes you even farther through the scenic UW Arboretum for a peaceful, one-of-a-kind Madison run.

Whether you’re running, walking with friends, or working toward a personal goal, there’s a place for you.

Not ready to participate? Come out and cheer on the walkers and runners. Your support means a lot to this community.

View the maps, dust off your running shoes, and get ready for race day.

Every step supports Open Doors and local families facing food insecurity.

Their support helps cover event essentials so every registration and donation goes directly to Open Doors for Refugees, helping families build stability and a new start here in Madison.
