RoundTrip is a program of the Greater Madison Metropolitan Planning Organization that connects individuals and employers in Dane County with convenient alternatives to driving alone.

RoundTrip offers an online trip planner that commuters can use to find carpool partners, bike buddies, vanpool routes and Metro Transit routes, as well as Madison BCycle stations and park-and-ride locations statewide.

RoundTrip also administers the free Dane County Emergency Ride Home program for car-free commuters in Dane County.

Nearly 800 people turned out Sunday for the Ride for Your Life rally in Madison, an annual ride to remember people lost to traffic violence and advocate for safety improvements that can prevent future deaths. Madison’s ride was held in honor of Sasha Rosen, killed by a driver on South Park Street in February 2026.

Ride For Your Life organizers asked participants to take action in two ways:

- Send a postcard to your legislator to support S‏asha’s Bill to curb extreme speeding and reckless driving (AB 655/SB 659).
- Submit the League of American Bicyclists Action Alert urging members of Congress to vote against any federal measures to defund bike lanes.

There’s nothing keeping anyone with hopes for safer streets from taking those actions, whether they made it to the ride on Sunday or not.

Bicycle Film Festival is coming to Madison October 1, 6:30pm at the Barrymore Theatre.

Starkweather Brewing Company (2439 Atwood Ave.) is hosting the pre-show party at starting at 4pm. There will be b**r and NA beverage options available to purchase as well as food for your after-work or pre-show meal.

Sasha Rosen was 17 — goofy, music-loving, a kid who argued politics and beat his friends at video games — when a speeding driver killed him as he crossed the street on his way to school.

That’s not an accident. That’s a policy failure, and it demands answers.

On October 4, we’re filling the streets of Madison to get them.

Join Ride for Your Life — alongside fellow advocates and elected officials — to ride, walk, and rally for safer roads and a more livable Wisconsin. We’re pushing to pass Sasha’s Bill (AB 655 / SB 659 in the Wisconsin legislature), which would let judges require GPS-enabled intelligent speed devices in the cars of drivers convicted of reckless driving or repeated/extreme speeding.

And we won’t stop there. Join us by riding or walking.

NOTE! We’re looking for volunteers for a range of roles – before, during and after the ride. Together, we’ll make Wisconsin both safer and more livable.

We’re looking for Madison community members to join the Madison Bikes Board of Directors!

If you’re interested in prioritizing advocacy projects, organizing events and engaging with community partners to promote safer biking infrastructure, submit an application by Friday, October 2, 2026 at 5pm!

Madison Bikes seeks a broad representation of the communities we serve. BIPOC, LGBTQ+, caregivers, people with disabilities, and Madisonians of all ages are encouraged to apply!

Expectations of being a member of the Board of Directors:
• Term length is a 3 year commitment
• Participate in monthly board meetings
• Assist in advocacy projects
• Organize and volunteer at events such as Madison Bike Week
• Review grant proposals
• Participate in the long-term strategic planning of Madison Bikes and implementation of our mission

Depending on board member strengths, these are other possible commitments expected of board members:
• Contribute to the blog and newsletter
• Update the website and social media
• Attend city council and transportation meetings

Ride For Your Life is returning to Madison on Sunday, October 4! Join us as we remember those who were lost to traffic violence and work towards specific legislative and policy proposals for a safer future. Ride for Your Life

Event date/time: Sunday, October 4, 2026 at 1pm
Route: Brittingham Park to Madison’s State Capitol
Options: 6-mile bike ride or 1-mile walk
Post ride/walk rally: on the steps of State Capitol with elected officials, community leaders and leaders of our movement

This year’s event is dedicated to 17-year old Sasha Rosen, a Madison West High School senior who was killed by a speeding driver while crossing South Park Street to catch the bus. His story is a tragic reminder that more than 100 Americans die walking, biking, and driving on our roads every single day.
