Casa Esther was one of Governor Tony Evers' first stops this week as he highlights clean energy projects across the state. Casa Esther's solar array, partially funded by Solar for Good, went online last week and is expected to produce 70% of the nonprofit's energy needs, creating hundreds of dollars in savings that can instead be used for vital programming.

Casa Esther provides crisis assistance, housing resources, and so much more for communities across Winnebago County.

A draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Columbia Wind energy project is out for public comment. The current draft stops short of actually estimating Columbia Wind’s positive environmental benefits, such as the public health benefits of emission reductions. Submit a comment before August 28 and tell the PSC that information about reduced climate impacts and greenhouse gas emissions is necessary for a complete statement.

UPDATE: Last week the United States District Court for the District of Oregon ruled that the Trump administration’s use of a review process to freeze wind development violated statutory and regulatory deadlines. The administration has been ordered to resume the review of onshore wind projects and provide status updates every 30 days on its progress.

The Trump Administration’s anti-wind policies will only serve to raise energy costs for people across the country and in Wisconsin. Not only are these policies bad for economic development and job creation — we know that reducing our opportunities to expand clean energy will harm our air quality, community health, and ability to combat climate change.
