☀️ REAP is a verb. 🥕🌾

When people ask what REAP stands for, they usually think of our old acronym (Research, Education, Action, Policy). While we do that work more than ever, REAP is no longer just words on a page, it’s an action.

It’s the daily work of disrupting a broken food system to build a local economy that values our land, our laborers, and our community's health. 

For 29 years, we’ve been sowing the seeds. Now, we are finally REAPing the harvest of:

🍎 Nourishment

Today, we are launching our Annual Summer Appeal. While fields are full and markets are busy, summer is actually a period of low cash flow for our operations. We rely on this campaign to keep our staff on the ground and our projects moving forward.

It’s another Farm to School Friday! 🎉 Along with beekeeping, Erica and Allison rented a garden plot at the Midvale Community Garden. Why? Because collaboration is key! Erica and Allison have the same job title (Farm to School Director) at different nonprofits. Shouldn’t that make them competitive? Nope! They focus on different pieces of Farm to School, and by working together they can help to ensure broad programming and strategic support for Farm to School efforts throughout Madison and Southern Wisconsin.

Did you hear the news? 👂 Just last month, Healthy School Meals for All Wisconsin was accepted for fiscal sponsorship through !

The current leadership team isn’t going anywhere, and REAP’s role in co-leading the coalition and movement isn’t changing - instead, think of fiscal sponsorship as a partnership between HSM4A WI and Embolden WI - the details of which are more thoroughly explained in last week’s newsletter, which you can find in our newsletter archive at the link in our bio!
