We are a network of professional female chefs, cooks, food and beverage producers, growers and artisans located throughout Wisconsin. We are committed to serving our communities through mentorship, volunteer outreach, education, fundraising and advocacy. We collaborate not only among ourselves, but with other community-minded organizations. Our contributions to these groups meet our goal of empowe

ring women who have chosen to join the culinary community, or who are considering stepping onto the culinary path. Through regular meetings, we nourish ourselves in body and spirit. We are a group who respects food, how it’s grown, where it’s raised and who is growing it. Most of all we are united; a collective of women which honors and values the culinary industry to which we have chosen to contribute our talent and grit.

It’s one hour before Madison’s Ahan restaurant opens and the small kitchen is buzzing. Water is boiling, chicken is roasting and dumplings are frying. Before they even begin taking orders for the lunch rush, the chefs are preparing two big catering orders for corporate customers. “So today it....

After 16 weeks of our Pilot Program and Holiday Extension we are ready to bring Dane County Food Collective's Industry Wellness Classes into the New Year. After working out some of the kinks of our first programs we've made some updates to our programing:

First, we will be scaling back classes to our most popular format by just offering group fitness classes at Pat's Gym. These classes will take place on Monday and Thursday mornings at 10AM from January 9th to May 22nd.

Second, in an effort to be more equitable and open to the larger community we've changed the way we will be raising funds for the program. Restaurants can still underwrite their employees' classes but instead of paying a flat fee we will ask participating restaurants to commit to raising money for the program. If you are interested, email me at [email protected] and I will let you know how to get involved. (DCFC can help provide models and language for fundraisers)

Lastly, in an effort to open these classes to a larger audience, anybody working in the food industry is welcome to attend classes. We ask that anybody attending whose employer is not participating in the program pays a flat fee of $5 per class that can be accepted on location, virtually.

We will then take these funds to pay instructors and if excess funds are generated we will host additional one-off wellness oriented events that will be decided at DCFC's Health & Wellness Committee Meetings.
