Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation, Inc. We are champions for Safe Communities, Fire Fighters, and Burn Survivors across Wisconsin.

In the fall of 1987, during a fifteen-day period in the City of Milwaukee; three fires took the lives of twenty people including seventeen children. These tragic events lead to the creation of the Wisconsin Alliance for Fire Safety. In 2015, our organization was created and absorbed the Wisconsin Alliance for Fire Safety (WAFS), with the promise to maintain the cause and improved the programming moving forward.

Mental Health Professionals!

Join the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation for our annual Fire Fighter Experience Day where mental health practitioners can join experienced fire fighters in hands-on scenarios such as simulated fire suppression and emergency medical responses, allowing them to experience firsthand the physical demands faced by fire and EMS personnel. The afternoon portion of the day will include small group discussions led by the Charitable Foundation’s peer support clinician and member assistance team members to help participants understand peer-driven support strategies used to intervene with first responders suffering from the effects of trauma exposure.

Participants must be aware that this training will involve the use of fire fighter protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus, with all activities conducted under the close supervision of experienced fire fighters to ensure participant safety.

The cost is $50 and includes lunch.

PFFW Charitable Foundation Chair Jerry Biggart recently stopped by Bell Ambulance in Milwaukee to present a check to support the family of Meng Kue. Meng was a valued member of the Bell family. His life was tragically cut short in January when his vehicle was struck by a reckless driver while returning home after his shift. Meng's sudden passing created a devastating void for his wife, his young family, his co-workers, and those who knew him. Through the generous support of many individuals – including friends, co-workers, and other Wisconsin EMS providers – more than $17,000 was raised to support Meng’s family.

Fire and EMS providers – whether paid or volunteer – are the heart of every Wisconsin community. When Wisconsin fire fighters and EMS personnel are facing personal tragedy or other challenges the PFFW Charitable Foundation is honored to help our brothers, sisters, and their families in times of need.

We would like to thank the speakers, exhibitors, and attendees who attended the PFFW Charitable Foundation’s second-annual first responder wellness conference. The day was filled with practical information, camaraderie, and messages of hope tailored towards the first responder community. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) and the wonderful job their team did hosting this event.

In a powerful show of community support and corporate generosity, Alter Metal Recycling’s Southern Wisconsin Region, raised over $78,000 for the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation as part of Alter’s Go Green for the Green campaign. During the month of April proceeds from scrap metal donations were matched dollar-for-dollar by Alter.

The success of this campaign was amplified by the generosity of Alter’s customer and supplier network, with the largest single donation coming from Schmidts Auto, Inc. in the Madison area.

We would also like to thank the Waupun Fire Department, Paul Davis Restoration of South Central Wisconsin, and the Building and Trades Council of South Central Wisconsin for hosting scrap metal collection containers during the campaign.

Funds raised by this campaign will be used to support Charitable Foundation programming such as our annual summer camp for burn injured youth and first responder mental health peer support. For a small non-profit like ours, this is significant investment in our ability to help others.

Introducing Robin Monson-Dupuis!

Robin Monson-Dupuis, LCSW, SAC, RYT, is the owner of RMM Wellness Therapies, and is the author of “Spirit Son, A Mother’s Journey To Reconnect with Her Son After His Death From He**in Overdose”. Monson-Dupuis has dedicated her 35+ year career to helping those with behavioral health and substance use issues heal. She has been a Director of Outpatient Behavioral Health for Aurora Health Care and currently is in private practice. After losing her son to a substance use disorder, Monson-Dupuis holds a unique vantage point on the disease of addiction and the profound trauma of grief. Robin’s book pushes back on a culture that often doesn’t support a reasonable grief journey and describes her path of exploring alternative healing modalities after her loss.

Monson-Dupuis speaks publicly with a heart for the topics of addiction, Motivational Interviewing, grief, and Emotional Survival Skills for first responders. She has spoken at the 2018 Op**te Crisis Congress Conference in D.C., the 2017 UW-Milwaukee Women Leaders Conference, and the Milwaukee “Many Faces of Depression” conference. Her televised speaking opportunities have included topics such as eating disorders, the Female Athlete Triad, parenting adolescents, mindfulness, anxiety and depression. She provides personal growth workshops on mental health topics such as Cultivating Happiness, Women’s Empowerment, and Growing Spiritual and Emotional Resiliency.

Monson-Dupuis utilizes a wide range of tools in her therapeutic work with clients, including yoga for trauma, Reiki, Brainspotting, chakra balancing, Internal Family Systems, and Solution-Focused Therapy, which she has taught at the graduate school level at UW-Milwaukee.

Monson-Dupuis started the Greenfield, WI Chapter of GRASP (Grief Recovery After Substance Passing) in 2017 soon after her son Ethan died because she couldn’t find a group that met the unique needs of grieving a loved one’s death due to addiction. As a facilitator, Monson-Dupuis gently guides those who have lost someone to addiction to a place where they can grieve and heal without stigma. She is the Chair of the annual Ethan’s 5K Run Against Addiction (ERAA), which has raised over $500K in the last six years to provide sober living assistance to those in recovery from addiction in the Milwaukee area.
