SEEKING PART TIME ARTIST MENTORS!

ArtWorking is a Madison based non-profit art studio and entrepreneurship program for adults with disabilities. We are currently seeking part time Artist Mentors. Artist Mentors are direct support and care workers, who have an expertise in one or more art disciplines. Artist Mentors work directly with ArtWorking’s current roster of disabled artists and small business owners.

About the Work
Artist Mentors provide direct support to artists with disabilities, working directly with the artists that we support to help facilitate their artistic and professional goals. That can mean a wide range of things like providing support and assistance with art making, support relative to mobility, communication, and personal care. Along with direct support, artist mentors participate in a diverse range of projects and activities in furtherance of our artists’ goals and objectives, including assisting with coordinating shows and exhibitions, assisting with product production, and participating in community outreach and engagement.

This is a part time position averaging 10-20 hours per week.

We are looking for someone who:

• Is comfortable with providing direct support and personal care for people with disabilities.

• Can assist people with mobility and transfers (i.e., moving from chair to standing, navigating the restroom, etc); comfortable carrying bulky or heavy objects such as tent weights, heavy boxes, furniture, etc.

• Has meaningful experience and proficiency in multiple art-making disciplines (bonus for printmaking experience).

• Is able to multitask and manage multiple projects concurrently; having strong natural or adaptive executive functioning ability

• Has good written communication skills and reliability with email communication

• Has availability on Mondays and Wednesdays in addition to other days.
