Read about Co-Director Lamonté Moore of Wisconsin Voices Youth Table and previous UW student. Lamonté got good grades, caught the eye of a basketball scout, and was college bound. But six years after graduating high school, he's deep in student debt and without a degree. The barriers he's faced in getting a college education are holding back growing numbers of Wisconsin students.

Students are POWER. The movement (UW BlackOut News Letter) worked around the clock last year to make UW a more inclusive system by speaking truth to power at Board of Regent meetings. Now there is a new cultural competency program for both students and faculty throughout the system. You all are proof of the power of students. HUGE congratulations to the blood, sweat and tears you all put in.

Called Fluent, the program echoes a demand of student activists pressuring officials to improve the experiences of minorities on UW campuses.
