Some conferences end when the last session does, but PEARLS comes home with you.

It comes back to clinic in a changed approach to scarring alopecia, greater clarity around allergy testing and pediatric cases, and a better answer to a question your patient hasn’t asked yet.

It stays in the names newly saved in our phones, the mentors we now know we can call, and the hallway conversations that made a room full of dermatology PAs and NPs feel like a professional home.

It’ll also be difficult to forget the moment this community traded clinical pearls for capes, fangs, and one spectacular night at the Vampire Ball! Savannah may never fully recover... 🧛🏻‍♀️

To every speaker, sponsor, volunteer, leader, and APP who brought their expertise, curiosity, and energy to PEARLS this year: thank you.

We’re leaving more prepared for the work, more invested in one another, and more certain than EVER that this community is something worth protecting and continuing to build.

We came to Savannah for PEARL, but for one night, we stepped into another world!🩸

“Thirst: A Vampire’s Ball” transformed the Westin’s Club Pavilion into a full-scale gothic celebration worthy of GDPA’s 18th Anniversary. Every detail felt intentional, the looks went all the way, and the dance floor stayed full from the first song to the last.

But the scale of the production only tells half the story. The other half was a room full of dermatology PAs and NPs who genuinely wanted to be together: old friends reuniting, new connections forming, and people making sure no one stayed a stranger for long.

That kind of community can’t be manufactured. GDPA today comes from 18 years of showing up, learning together, supporting one another, and building something people want to return to.

The setting made it unforgettable. The people made it PEARLS. 🧛

GDPA PEARLS 2026, Day 1 recap. Eleven hours, seven CME hours, four symposia, and one room in Savannah that stayed full until 5:45.

Here’s what Thursday looked like, in order: Dr. Oyetewa Asempa (Oyetewa Asempa, MD, FAAD | Hair Loss Specialist and Speaker) opened with scarring alopecia and came back before lunch for non-scarring alopecia, six real cases between the two. Dr. Karan Lal (Dr Karan Lal DO, FAAD) took melasma and vitiligo in the morning, then GLP-1s and inflammatory skin disease in the afternoon. Dr. Harrison Nguyen (Harrison Nguyen, MD, MBA, MPH, FAAD) had hidradenitis suppurativa and chronic spontaneous urticaria. And the day closed with Drs. Asempa and Lal joined by Buchi Neita, PA-C (Buchi Neita) for an hour of skin of color cases that mostly started as the wrong diagnosis.

Thank you to our Day 1 symposium partners: Johnson & Johnson, Arcutis Biotherapeutics, and Sanofi | Regeneron. And thank you to every exhibitor who made the trip, and to Incyte for keeping the Incyte Zone open all day!

Save this for the pearls. Tag the colleague who should be here. Follow GEORGIA DERMATOLOGY APP ASSOCIATION for the Day 2 recap tomorrow.

Evidence that vampires do, in fact... socialize before sundown. 🦇

Last night’s Riverside Reception brought everyone together on the Harbor Ballroom Lawn for a little time by the water before the conference goes fully nocturnal.

Thank you to Sanofi and Regeneron for sponsoring the Riverside Reception and helping give PEARLS attendees more time together beyond the session room!

Tonight, "Thirst: A Vampire’s Ball" takes over Club Pavilion from 8:00 to 11:00pm. Shuttles will depart from the main lobby every five minutes from 8:00 to 8:45pm and again from 10:45 to 11:00pm.

Tonight’s question: subtle nod or full immortal? Tag us in your getting ready stories!

The capes can wait. PEARLS got started the moment everyone walked in! 🦇

There was no awkward first-night energy in the exhibit hall. Just the easy kind of conversation that happens when dermatology PAs and NPs finally get to be in the same room again.

Our exhibitors met that energy perfectly. Thank you for welcoming attendees into conversations that felt genuine and useful before the first full day even began.

A special thank-you to AbbVie for sponsoring the evening and helping make that time together possible.

Also spotted: the GDPA tote making its official PEARLS debut! 👜

PEARLS… we’re back! 🧛‍♀️

Savannah is starting to look a little more familiar:

Attendees are arriving, registration opens in a few hours, and at 6 PM, we’ll gather for the Arrival Event.

Until then, we’re looking back at a few moments from last year’s conference as we get ready to catch up with familiar faces, welcome first-time attendees and bring Georgia’s dermatology APP community together again!

Safe travels to everyone still on the way. We’ll see you soon…
