October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and we can't think of a better way to celebrate than by recognizing one of our incredible employer partners!

Tidal Vision in Bellingham was recently honored with Washington APSE's Outstanding Large Employer Award for their commitment to inclusive employment. APSE is a national organization advancing employment opportunities for people with disabilities, making this recognition especially meaningful.

Weโ€™re also proud of Work Opportunities Employment Specialist Alexa, who nominated Tidal Vision for the award and had the honor of announcing their win! Tidal Vision couldn't attend the conference in person but shared this video acceptance with us.

Tidal Vision has created meaningful work that builds on the strengths, interests and abilities of an employee supported by Work Opportunities.

And perhaps our favorite part of the story? They've already reached out about hiring a
second person!

Run to Work was filled with music, laughter, generosity, friends, families and so many people who believe that people of all abilities belong in the workforce.

One of our favorite moments was celebrating Joel, our Outstanding Client Award recipient, and Alderwood Auto Repair, our Outstanding Employer Award recipient.

When Joel started working at Alderwood Auto in August 2025, one of his goals was to get more comfortable connecting with the mechanics in the shop.

Today? He talks with them every shift, jokes around with them, sings along to the musicโ€”and says they're one of his favorite parts of his job.

Joel's whole family came to celebrate him Saturday night, and his job coach Carly was there with her family, too. And after sharing his story, Joel did something we weren't exactly expectingโ€ฆ

โšพ He led the entire room in Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

Our amazing emcee, FOX 13 Seattle's Brian MacMillan, followed Joel with a simple ask: scan the QR code and give $25 if you can.

Why $25? Because $25 is a great start toward helping someone get the support they need on their employment path.

A HUGE thank you to our sponsors, community partners, volunteers, board members, staff and everyone who came out, donated, bid, bought raffle tickets and helped make Run to Work such a fun night.

And yesโ€ฆthe Mariner Moose was supposed to join us, but unfortunately, he was under the weather. We missed him, but as you can see, Joel and Quick Quack Car Wash Quackles the Duck had the entertainment covered.
