The Lumbee Tribe’s Project CREATE invites American Indian students from Robeson, Hoke, Cumberland, and Scotland Counties to experience college life during our University Tours, happening July 15–16, 2026!

Rising 9th–12th-grade students have the opportunity to visit UNC Pembroke, NC A&T State University, and UNC Greensboro while learning what it takes to succeed in college. Throughout the tour, students will participate in workshops that discuss college admissions and the application process, financial aid and scholarship opportunities, what to expect during their freshman year, and what campus life and academic success look like.

The All American Gate Closure is coming early-mid July.

Peak travel times hit hardest in the morning (6–9 AM) and afternoon (4–6 PM) when gate traffic surges. Allow extra time if entering or exiting Fort Bragg during those times. If possible, consider scheduling appoinments outside of those hours as our Soldiers and civillians commute to work.

JUST IN: Tsunami Advisory issued for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands after an M 7.1 Earthquake has struck along the coast of Venezuela in the Caribbean Sea.

The US Tsunami Warning Center says

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.1 occurred near the coast of venezuela at 6:05 pm ast on wednesday, june 24, 2026.
tsunami threat: based on all available data, there is a tsunami threat to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands in the form of sea level fluctuations and strong ocean currents. these could be a hazard along coasts, beaches, in harbors, and in coastal waters.

Estimated arrival time: the earliest estimated time that hazardous sea level fluctuations and strong ocean currents may begin in puerto rico and the virgin islands is 7:19 pm ast on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

Immediate Actions: actions to protect human life, safety, and property should be taken immediately.

Status updates:
the generation of tsunami waves has not yet been confirmed.

Monitoring is underway to further evaluate the tsunami threat. Stay tuned for advice from local officials.

The weekend is just around the corner 👀 let's take a look at the weather headlines for the rest of the week and into the weekend! Have you enjoyed today? The weather has been great, and we will have another pretty nice morning on Thursday before the humidity starts to work back in. Highs on Thursday will be in the 80s and low 90s for most areas.

Friday-Weekend: Temperatures will warm even more as we head into the weekend, with temps in the 90s for most areas, 80s along the beaches, and in the mountains, but it will be humid. As we head into the weekend, the heat and humidity and the ridge of high pressure not directly overhead will result in some isolated to scattered pop-up summertime thunderstorms each afternoon and evening, mainly after 2PM. Storms that develop will generally have gusty winds, heavy rainfall, and cloud-to-ground lightning, but occasionally they could be strong to severe if they get going, so we will keep an eye on the radar. No reason to cancel any plans, very hit or miss setup, most miss, but about 30-40% of the state on any given day will see a pop-up storm.

Week of the 4th: We will turn even hotter highs in the mid-upper 90s for most areas several days next week, especially away from the beaches and higher elevations, with limited storm chances typical summertime but lower chances beginning of the week, maybe odds going up a tad late week into the 4th. As of now, late week and into the weekend looks like a very typical summer 4th of July in North Carolina. Will keep you posted since we have about 7+ days to go.

Tickets are $40 to support Robeson County Disaster Recovery Coalition helping us help Individuals and families recover from disasters. Come for the food. Stay for the conversation. "The Brotherhood " and friends will be cooking up some good old soul food. We are having BBQ, slaw, his puppies, Mac N cheese, collards, black eye peas, Chicken n pastry, chicken bog, ribs, fried chicken, cabbage, corn, okra, BBQ chicken, potato salad, turnip greens, pig feet and Chitlins, pound cake, chocolate cake, watermelon, blueberries, sweet potato pie, sweet potato pudding, banana pudding. You don't want to miss this. We will also have a discussion panel to kickoff conversations about Black and Brown families and the barriers and challenges they face, perspectives and wisdom on resilience , shared history and celebration of success.
