ANNUAL GRATITUDE APPRECIATION POST
OOPS WE DID IT AGAIN!
Robeson County Band of Brothers is extremely happy to say that once again we knocked it outta the park with another successful charity concert event! ROBSTOCK IV was a blast! Our hometown community came together for a great time, all for a great cause! All our goals were met and we are already in talks about how to make the next one a success! Three scholarships will be awarded to Lumberton Senior High School students in honor of Franklin Keith Ross, Kent Prevatte, and Jamie Scott at their May 22nd awards ceremony. A tribute in the form of a certified check will be awarded and sent out this week to the family of David Smith as well. As with every year, we like to be totally transparent on how our non-profit utilizes its funding from all our combined grassroots efforts. The information is provided below but first I want to personally thank all of you who contributed in some way, shape or fashion. This is truly a team effort, or more like a family to me...I apologize if I miss you specifically in this post. You did not go unnoticed...
First of all, I could not do this without our board members - Michael L. Prevatte, Joey Townsend, Mike Pittman, James Bass and Robert Brian Schneider. Each member brings their own unique contribution to the mix whether it be recruiting sponsors, advertising and promotion, fundraising, tax and legal documents, etc. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that many people do not realize. All of us do this without compensation...
Kudos to our new host, Carters Restaurant, at Pinecrest Country Club in Lumberton! Your staff was extremely accommodating, helpful, and the food/beverages were enjoyed by all! Your facilties were exactly what we needed - lots of space inside, ample parking and everyone felt welcome coming through those doors.
Mad props to the Lumberton Police Department for providing security! We never have anything to worry about but liability is always a concern. We felt safe having Stephen Jacobs and Tanielle Cummings on site, keeping tabs on us. We appreciate Mickey Swaratsingh for securing these officers for us!
To our sound and light man, John Hilton Gales, who has now provided his professional services to us on multiple occassions without charging us a dime. His expertise in the area and his equipment had everyone sounding and looking like ROCKSTARS!
The costs of our event could not be covered without the help of our corporate sponsors we have tagged below. We continue to have steady contributors to our cause and we were happy to welcome some new local businesses to our family this year also!
The entertainers of the night deserve a huge round of applause! This year brought new acts to the stage and everyone had something original to offer to the show too! It was a good balance between creativity in the originals and covers that the crowd would easily recognize! These guys offered their time and talent free of charge too, so make sure you go and support all the acts including Ashes to Ashes, Eleven FiftyNine, and Delgado when you get the chance - it costs you nothing to like and share their social media - better yet, go see them live or buy some of their merch. If you missed C.O.D.A., well too bad...that was it! You can go enjoy those artists in their respective projects including The Mood Kings: A Tribute to Small Town Radio, Grindhouse and The Knock Offs!
And I cannot forget my blood and closest to my heart - my wife Valeri Dyches Davis who handles the merch and ticket sales, my son Hayes Davis who is all the muscle we need moving around all that heavy equipment, and my brothers Phil Davis and Matt Davis, both who helped financially and physically to pull the show off! FAMILY ALWAYS COMES FIRST! Maybe one day we can get Gracie Davis to help out, lol - I doubt it! Love her just the same!
The unsung heroes of the night are the fans who come to show up and show out! Every year feels like a reunion with familiar faces and new ones to add to the brotherhood...once again, we had almost 200 people in attendance throughout the night!
