Lakeshore Food Club

Lakeshore Food Club Nutritious food. Dignified access. Stronger community. That’s what Lakeshore Food Club makes possible every day.

Lakeshore Food Club is a choice-based food access organization rooted in dignity, nourishment, and community. Through our grocery-style Food Club, school-placed programs, and Regional Food Hub, we work to ensure families, students, and seniors across our region have reliable access to fresh, healthy food in welcoming and respectful spaces. We believe food access should support not only physical we

ll-being, but also confidence, stability, and connection. By partnering with local farmers, schools, volunteers, and community organizations, we’re helping build a stronger regional food system where neighbors can choose the foods that fit their lives and feel supported along the way. Together, we are creating a community where healthy food is within reach and everyone is treated with dignity.

Planting Hope This World Hunger Day

Today, on World Hunger Day, we’re choosing to celebrate the quiet, powerful ways our community nurtures hope. At Lakeshore Food Club, we believe that hunger is not inevitable—it is something we can overcome together when we invest in one another with care, stability, and dignity.

Whether it’s families choosing the healthy foods they need in our grocery-style market, students gaining access to consistent nourishment, or our Regional Food Hub connecting local growers to neighbors, hope is taking root across our region every single day.

To our volunteers, donors, partners, and neighbors: thank you for showing up. Your support is the foundation of this work, proving that when a community comes together, we create real, lasting change.

Thank you for being part of a community where hope is planted daily and where it continues to grow.

Lately, many families in our community have been feeling the squeeze of rising everyday costs — especially gas. For some, that extra $20–$30 at the pump isn’t just frustrating. It forces impossible choices. Too often, the grocery budget is what gets cut.

At Lakeshore Food Club, we’re seeing this firsthand. In the first four months of 2026, member visits increased by 10% as more households turn to the Food Club for a little more breathing room.

One mom of four recently shared:
“To be able to participate and get food for my family is such a huge blessing… It takes such a huge burden and anxiety away.”

This is why your support matters.

Your generosity helps ensure families can still bring home fresh produce, quality protein, and the foods that nourish them — even when other costs rise.

Will you help solve the “impossible math” for a local family today?
• $50/month keeps our shelves stocked all year
• $100 provides a week of fresh groceries for four neighbors

Together, we can make sure dignity, choice, and healthy food remain within reach. Give today at www.LakeshoreFoodClub.org/breathing-room

We’re grateful to the Community Foundation for Oceana County for the opportunity to be part of this year’s Spring Oceana Free Dive alongside other community partners.

Our Executive Director, O’Nealya Gronstal, will be joining the conversation to share about the importance of relationships, collaboration, and building stronger systems of food access in rural communities.

We’re especially thankful to the Community Foundation for Oceana County for their continued partnership and support of Lakeshore Food Club through a recent grant investment in our work. Partnerships like these help strengthen access to healthy, nourishing food across our region.

We hope to see many local nonprofits and community leaders there for a morning of learning, connection, and conversation.

PLAN AHEAD: We always want to keep the Food Club a comfortable and predictable place to shop, so we wanted to share a quick update.

On Thursday, April 30, we’ll be completing essential maintenance on our walk-in freezer.

What this means for your visit:
Selection: To complete the work, our freezer will be emptied the night before. While we will still have items available, our freezer selection will be smaller than usual on the 30th.

Environment Note: There will be loud noises in the Food Club throughout the day on the 30th. We know many of our members value the calm and quiet atmosphere of the Food Club. If you find that a noisier environment makes your shopping experience less comfortable, you may want to plan your visit for Wednesday or Friday instead.

Thank you for your understanding as we take care of the behind-the-scenes work that keeps the Food Club running smoothly.
