Today, the South Plains Young Marines held a mock encampment drill in preparation for our upcoming encampment later this month!
We kicked off the day with a thorough gear inspection, ensuring every Young Marine and Recruit knew exactly what they had, what they needed, and what they may still be missing before heading into the field. From there, everyone put their camping skills to the test by pitching their tents, inspecting them for serviceability, and then properly breaking them down and packing them away.
After chow, the Young Marines and Recruits learned how to make ranger beads, an important land navigation tool used to track distance traveled. The remainder of the afternoon was spent working on guidebook sign-offs, helping our youth continue their progress toward future promotions and achievements.
We're proud of the hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm shown by all of our Young Marines and Recruits today. Every drill brings them one step closer to becoming more confident leaders and better prepared for the challenges ahead. We look forward to putting these skills to use at encampment later this month!
Semper Fidelis!
